NBA · Larry Hughes to Clev 5-60MM (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 7/8/2005 9:46 AM
thats a lot of $ for him

i mean hes a good player, but he gets hurt like every year
still, that hurts Wash, that could bring them down a big notch
djsunyc @ 7/8/2005 9:56 AM
plan C for cleveland will come back to bite them in the ass

ray - strike one
redd - strike two
hughes - foul tip...

washington left with arenas and jamison - now it looks like a guard/forward will be needed for kwame.
Knick2001 @ 7/8/2005 10:00 AM
I can see Washington asking for Crawford in a sign and trade for Kwame Brown now.
Silverfuel @ 7/8/2005 10:01 AM
link please..
MS @ 7/8/2005 10:01 AM
I like this alot this gives them a big hole at the two, Crawford in a sign and trade maybe a real poss now.....

Make it happen Isiah, that would be perfect

yeah 12 mil per is the average. That is huge money for him.

He had a great year though. I don't think thats the answer for the Cavs though. They need a shooter and hughes is not that. They also need a pg. He'll definitely make them better if Big Z also returns. If he doesn't they are hit.

The Wizards are officially hit now. That is a huge blow, that probably knocks them out of the playoffs if they don't make any other moves. They could really use Sweets about now, he'll get to that free throw line for them, not that he'll put up 22, but he'll provide some of that missing offense, maybe as much as 15 ppg depending on how they play him.
EnySpree @ 7/8/2005 10:10 AM
All I gotta say is Clevland will be a problem. Lebron has a legit sidekick on the perimeter. Lebron is going to really go off this year.

All the cavs need is a decent point guard that can push the ball and get the ball to people and they will be a tough team to play.

The East is getting better. Awesome!!!!
realhiphop @ 7/8/2005 10:12 AM
What do you fellas think of Larry Hughes? He reminds me a little of J Craw except he's a much better rebounder and defender.
simrud @ 7/8/2005 10:13 AM
They sure wouldl like to have a SG now, and so does Denver.

When JJ resigns with the Suns Craw should become a hot commodity.

I don't think Craw staright up for Kwame is a fair trade for NY. They have to give us more. Soemthing like Craw, and Rose for Etah Thomas, Kwame Brown, the rights to Blatche, and a future 1 round pick.

Remember we are giving them a 17pt a game ultra talented 2 for a very near bust of a lottery pick and a role player.
Armondaone @ 7/8/2005 10:21 AM
would you like them to throw in peter ramos the center from PR they drafted last year???

IT would not be perfect and IT would not do it. a 17ppg scorer who is young and promising for a huge question mark? He never does that.
MS @ 7/8/2005 10:33 AM
anyway can get you 17 shooting 39% 18 times a game

No way the Wizards would gve up that much height by trading way Brown, Thomas and Blatche. The Wizards really like Blatche and Thomas is the only backup they have for Haywood.
MS @ 7/8/2005 10:57 AM
Simrud are you insane, give up their entire front line for Malik Rose and Crawford (who has accomplished nothing to date)
gunsnewing @ 7/8/2005 11:15 AM
Crawford
Rose

for

Kwame
Etan
2007 1st rd pick
(maybe Ramos)

works under the cap and gives us much need size, toughness & rebounding. Thats gonna be a massive frontline rotation!

2005-06 New York Knicks
-----------------------
C-Brown/Etan/Butler
PF-Frye/Sweetney/Taylor
SF-TT/Ariza/Lee/JYD
SG-Q/Bowen/Penny
PG-MArbury/Nate

that scenario would be a lot- but his point is correct- you're trading your number 2 scorer for a big, big question mark. They would need to give up more.

I'd take Kwame & an unrestricted number on for 2007 and bet that that pick will be lottery and might be better than our own.

guns: I just see no way Washington will include Etan in any trade with Kwame Brown. Haywood has only been healthy and played a full season 1 out of his 4 years.

Now they are reporting, nOT done

http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/36549/20050708/hughes_to_cavaliers_premature/

im beginning to suspect that these agents are using these websites and ESPN to attempt to drive up contract values. whether its ESPN INsider, ESPN News, Real GM, NBADRADRT Drafte EXPRESS, Hoop hype--they are using all public avenues to create misinformation. I guess from now on a deal is a deal when it is a deal.
