NBA · OT: Looks like Jalen Rose to LA Lakers for (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 8/15/2005 12:03 PM
a combination of George, Medvedenko, Divac and a pick. No link, but the source is solid.
fishmike @ 8/15/2005 12:05 PM
fits into their 2 year plan
Killa4luv @ 8/15/2005 12:08 PM
makes sense too with the loss of Caron Butler. They cannot hedge all of their bets on 2 unproven bigs and without Jalen it is basically Kobe and Odom alone. Not only that, but Jalen really can do everything that Phil asks offensively, from bringing up the rock to driving, to spotting up. They neede some fire power and they got it.
mintyfreshness33 @ 8/15/2005 12:37 PM
hmmm not a bad move, they can play him at the 1 2 or 3. i remember him abusing us last year at the point.
teslawlo @ 8/15/2005 1:28 PM
if the raptors finally found a taker for rose, congratulations to them. rose is one of the most overrated "stars" of the NBA. He contributes nothing. Plenty of guys around the league can give you 20 ppg if you give them the minutes.

he contributes nothing? please...let's not get crazy here...he may be obscenely overpaid, but he's still a pretty good player who can score in the clutch & post up w/the best of them at his position.

sure thing...

rahrahrah, Rose sucks, blah blah blah...

I guess its too hard to comprehend that if he wasnt paid that much he would be a a good player to have. To Lakerz it don't matter cause they are plannin to be under the cap in 2 years anyways.

But Rose sucks becaue he makes a lot of money and some jerk who never even seen him play more then twice a year but heard others say it knows it all.
nyk4ever @ 8/15/2005 2:35 PM
Wow, nice work Briggs. This is one time when I don't mind when you don't have a link becuase its from an outside source, which is cool. Rose will be a nice player for the Lakers, Phil is slowly assembling a roster of players that are going to fit right into the Triangle offense, the Lakers are going to be absolutely lethal. Notice once Phil Jax takes over, a roster overhaul goes into effect, I'm telling you, this guy knows exactly what he wants and THAT is why he is the best coach in the NBA and maybe ever.
fishmike @ 8/15/2005 2:37 PM
then why didnt TT give us 20 points a game? Lenny kept running him out there for 30 plus minutes a night. I thought all you needed was minutes. Weird huh... great hoops insight on that one.

I saw this being suggested as a rumor on hoopshype.com or something a few days ago... i'd be surprised if this happenned because the guy who wrote the article on hoopshype was saying this was in play.
Mac @ 8/15/2005 3:39 PM
I really like what I see from LA. Curry, Kwame, Bynum... And still trying to get under for Amare or LeBron???

and people still say building through the draft and with cap space is overrated LOL! overpaying for "B" level players is the way to go!

Huh? Of those players listed above, the Lakers have obtained *one* of them through the draft or cap space: Bynum, a 17 year old who has played zero NBA minutes.

my momma would always tell me, "Stop trying to spend other people's money".

it took me all this time to realize what she meant by that

yeah but Bonn that guy is Kobe Bryant they traded for a rookie and it has paid off tremendously. We had to acquire our best player, Marbury, and he has no business being the best player in NY. Have we or will we ever have the guts to trade for a top prospect like Kobe? doubt it.. With Kobe the Lakers are a lot closer to winning it all then we are

I know that I have said that I would like Jalen on the Knicks - because I feel Steph needs guys he can trust. But, man, putting Jalen Rose with Kobe Bryant sounds like a recipe for DISASTER. Hoo boy. That would be UGLY.

Another thing: I love how when I was pitching Jalen for Penny straight up, some people on the board had a stroke. Now, the Lakers get Jalen (who doesn't make sense on their team, btw) and the same people "like what the Lakers are doing, why don't we know how to build llike this, etc." Hilarious.

Yeah, Kobe has been great for the Laker organization, I'll pass on the sex offender thank you...without Shaq, Kobe would be compared more to Vince Carter than Jordan. I don't think Kobe ever wins another championship with the Lakers--his talent suggests he should be a team leader but he is anything but that.
