"Chicago Tribune - Tyson Chandler is reportedly close to agreeing to terms with the Bulls on a new contract. The 7-1 Chandler is expected to get a six-year deal worth $60 million to $64 million.

Chandler is a restricted free agent and no teams have shown an interest in the center, as the Bulls have been expected to retain his services."

Thats a bit more then I thought he would end up getting in free-agency. I was thinking he was going to get more along the lines of about 7-8 mill per year. The Bulls really want to keep that frontcourt together it looks like. Chandler was pretty good last year but he's got ALOT to prove to show he is earning his paychecks from this deal.

Sweetney destroyed him last year. And I'm not really a big Sweetney fan.

I just had chocolate covered cheesecake. For the second day in a row. 1500 calories in one piece of cake never tasted this good before.

$10.5mil a year is not that much for a Center who blocks shots and rebounds like Chandler does. Its not like he's getting $20mil a year. $10mil still leaves them room to make the team better.

Just for the record. He doesnt play center and he doesnt block THAT many shots, he blocked 1.8 in 28 mpg last year, but your right about the rebounding, he grabs 10 a game. I still think he's getting paid alot of money and has alot to prove before he starts earning it.

Chandlers the next Camby...

injury prone. He is a good rebounder and decent shot blocker but no offense and too many missed games. No thanks.

obviously you need to put a bigman who scores next to him but his age and the amount of shots he blocks 2.17 and 9.7rebs in 29mins and he played 80games last year.. makes him worth the 10mil especially when old bums like foyle and bums who show up in their contract years like Dampier get 9-10mil and put up 4pts 5rebs.

Agreed; that's just what the market is. The only other options for the Bulls were a sign and trade, in which case they're probably not gonna get an impact 7 footer like Chandler or losing him for nothing.

Chandler=Potential

decent contract. If you're a team like the bulls, you figure if Chandler goes bad mid contract you can just off load him to the knicks

He's more than potential. He's already a very good rebounder, shot-blocker, and defender

How can he be the next Camby when he doesn't play with Allan Houston and Latrell Sprewell. Hey, I know maybe he can be the next Tyson Chandler.

I thought our expiring contracts were valuable. Obviously, it would be subject to a physical by the best cardiologists available.

They're valuable to a team that has one or more bad contracts they want to get rid of, which excludes Chicago. I doubt I'd use the expiring contracts to get Curry anyway.
