I agree. Its not like she's the first gay person ever. And I'm sure she is comfortable with herself and her decisions. It doesn't take away from her ability to play the sport and thats what counts right?

Its weird being the only girl here and hearing things like 99% of the WNBA are gay and how women can't play sports. ...welcome to year 2005. Get over yourselves. I'm on a female cricket team and I'm pretty damn good at my position. Does playing a sport make me gay? Does playing a sport make [your mom/sister/daughter] gay? And does being a girl mean I'm a crappy player? Or better yet...cuz I post on a mostly guy's forum it means I'm a butch basketball enthusiast right? Some people simply need to THINK more.

That's the point I was trying to make. Everyone is joking but anytime you joke about a situation like this it gets blown out of proportion. These women can play basketball. They are very good at what they do. Some of the players are actually more basketball talented, and well rounded than there male counterparts. But that doesn't make it exciting to watch for the casual fan. The "casual fan" wants dunks and high flying action. I personally don't like watching the WNBA. It's just not exciting to me. I've tried, I've been to the games but I just don't like it. I've been called sexist because I don't want to watch it. That's ridiculous. I don't like Horse racing does that mean I am biased against short people. I don't watch hockey does that mean I hate ice?

As for Cheryl Swoopes coming out. Once again a non issue is being turned into an issue. Ask people in your office, random people on the street and 90% of them will say they don't care. The other 10% will be guys that just want to see the lesbians get naked and make out!

As for your game and you being a female athlete. There are still a lot of people that disrespect women and their game. But the majority of people don't. They have much respect for the women's game as you can see by the ratings for the Women's Olympic team. But until you can put a consistent product like that on the floor, noone is going to watch. Learn to laugh at yourself, most people on this post were joking.

If you read my post carefully I was not referring to the majority of the posts that we made. I also chose not to specifically mention any names either. You guys can be pretty funny a lot of the time. And then theres an occasional post that is so far out of line that I will choose to say my peace.
I think I can trust my judgement and my sense of humor but thanks for your concern Bips.
As far as which sports to watch, I didn't issue any mandates on that so rest easy. I dont watch many WNBA games on the regular either but I dont see it's relevence to Swoops'decision to come out of the closet.

Will Sheryl Swoope's decision open the door for other lesbians to come out and more importantly will it inspire the WNBA to promote oncourt threesomes. I think a threesome between Bird, Hammond and Swoopes would open the eyes of all gay bashers to the positives of an alternative lifestyle.

Agreed. When will the WNBA stop being so narrow-minded and allow these girls to display ALL of their talents? When will these lolitas finally be able to be themselves and be happy on the court and not just off it? Is it going to take another 20 years before they institute the "threesome line"? I can't wait that long. I'm upset.

After having a full 3 hours of goodnight sleep, I was able to think things over clearly, especially now that I'm at school. I figure maybe that during timeouts or between quarters, they can to one of those shooting contests and it will be called "Shoot for 3somes" instead of shoot for traveling around the world. And if you end up doing something stupid like missing a layup, you have to be punished by making out with Theresa Weatherspoon, but if you make all of your shots and then hit the big half court, you get to be involved with Sue and Becky. I think that would be a terrific public relations promotion. I'm sure minsheartsreezy agrees 100%.
