Mullin Claims He'll Be The Fall Guy If Needed
7th March, 2006 - 11:39 am
SF Chronicle - Many Warriors observers believe that Mike Montgomery could be bought out and shoulder the blame for the team's disappointing season, but Chris Mullin has other ideas.
"If need be a fall guy, that would be me," Mullin said this past week, "And that's the God's honest truth. Because everyone here was brought here by me. So if (there needs to) be a fall guy? Right here. Unequivocally. No doubt about it, no looking around.
"And that's the way it should be."
candid and honest, very refreshing.
I would take Mullin as Zeke's replacement over Kiki.
awwwwww. That's so sweet of him.
but I fire them both.
Coach Montgomery has enough talent, imo, on that roster to be compete.
and Mullin should have never traded A.Jamison and he should have kept G.Arenas.
and I mos def would NOT have given D.Fisher that much big a contract.

why?
Yeah, I never understood trading -- giving away -- Jamison. They did so to make room for Mike Dunleavy, who has never developed the way they thought he would when he was drafted out of Duke. And losing Arenas, a second round sleeper who has become a star, is inexcusable.
As opposed to Isiah's "Larry made me do it, blame him not me."
Mullins is a man of character while Isiah has never been wrong or made a mistake in his entire life, just ask him.
I had a feeling this would turn into a bash Isiah thread!

I just think Mullin could build a team more suiting Larry than Kiki....I mean seriously, Denver is what the Knicks would look like if all our moves paid off. He overpaid for KMart, and Kiki's only main great move was getting Carmelo and that was more because Detroit picked Milli...

and didnt Mullin just give Dunleavy a 7 year contract this off season???
Every thread can be turned into a bash Isiah thread. Afterall, this is his team and his "strategy".
You can't really blame Mullin for losing Arenas. Under the old rules there was very little chance to retain him.
A "fall guy" is a scapegoat - someone who gets blamed but isn't really to blame.

Why would you have confidence that he could build the knicks when has done a great job of screwing up the Warriors?

He hasn't "screwed up" the warriors too bad though. They have picks and ALOT of young talent. The only questionable moves he has made was Dunleavy (who really isn't THAT bad) and Foyle (he got Zeke syndrome for needing a center on that one).

How about a pic of Heather Thomas instead.
I'd rather have Kiki than Mullin. It's a nice thing to say, but actions speak louder than words and I have a feeling Mullin will last a lot longer than Montgomery in GS.
edit: wow, my post got totally upstaged by dj's pic. thanks, dj.
