Is it just me, or did anyone else notice he's not wearing #8 anymore? I believe I saw a pictue of him with 42 I believe? Anyone know the story behind this?

Its 24 now - his number from his first couple years at Lower Merion (High School), wanted 33 to honor his father, but its retired for Kareem.

yea he gave stupid reasons i dont erally remember.. he wore 24 in high school..

its obvious he changed it cause he loves Jack Bauer

All jokes aside, he wore it in high school, apparently it was Mike D'Antoni's number in Italy and Kone thought highly of him as a kid and it's supposedly a reminder that this is the second-half of his career and to live his life to the fullest 24 hours a day.

Only reason for the change was his jersey sales are lacking behind other stars and this is a way to increase the sales

Could be for image reasons as well. Maybe trying to start a new era in his life. #8 is the beef with Shaq & the rape charge days. #24 could be him trying to be a team player and lead his team to a championship by himself.

TMS your saying money but I don't get how he would get more money wearing #24 and not #8. Did he strike a deal with someone?

i meant in terms of selling more jerseys... everytime a player switches #'s, his fans have to go out & buy the new jersey... how many kids out there have #45 Jordan jerseys that they don't wear anymore?

He did it for Jersey sells image repair. Wade has had the top selling jersey for 2yrs now, he plays with Shaq and Kobe is just a jealous little twit. The number he chose may have meaning but why he switched is a flat out joke.
