EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Jerry Reese, who has served as the Giants’ Director of Player Personnel for the past four years, was named the team’s new Senior Vice President and General Manager today. Reese succeeds Ernie Accorsi, who retired today after a 37-year career in the National Football League, including the past nine seasons as the Giants’ GM.

Prior to serving as the team’s Director of Player Personnel, Reese was the Giants’ Assistant Director of Pro Personnel for three years. The 43-year old Reese, a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin and a member of the school’s Hall of Fame, originally joined the Giants scouting department in December of 1994. Prior to joining the Giants, Reese was a member of the football coaching staff at his alma mater.

Reese, a native of Tiptonville, Tenn. is married to the former Gwen Moore, and they have two children, Jasmyne Danielle and Jerry II.

The Giants will hold a 10:30 a.m. press conference on Tuesday to introduce Reese as the team’s new General Manager.

if this guy had any role in Ernie Accorsi's severe overpaying for Eli Manning, the drafting of Ron Dayne over Sean Alexander, the signing of Lavarr Arrington over Julian Peterson or Kenny Holmes over Simeon Rice, wasting of 1st round draft picks on William Joseph & Will Allen & a 2nd round pick on Corey Webster among other brilliant moves by Accorsi over the last several years, I'm not jumping up for joy over hearing this news.

Reese has made some good picks since taking over drafting. He's a good judge of talent and will be a very successful gm.

If he could only fire the coach.

I just hope they concentrate this draft on Defense...Draft Kiwanuka ahead of LB Ryans for Houston was just terrible..Really bad move even though it turn out we needed Kiwannuka...Ryans is going to be very special..I think he won Rookie Defensive player of the year and Mario Williams was their #1 draft choice...

we probably do need a 3rd down RB to get some snaps alongside Brandon Jacobs... Derrick Ward is a scrub & Chad Morton ain't gonna cut it.

we need an OLB & more depth in the secondary, especially a cover CB (no more McQuarters, PLEASE!!!) in the worst way. we could also use another possession type WR cuz Toomer's getting up there in age & you don't know how durable he's going to be going forward... we all saw how badly it effected Eli's game when he went down this season.
