Hillary: I'm in it to win it.
Barack: I'm in it to change America.

"I recognize there is a certain presumptuousness, a certain audacity, to this announcement," Obama said. "I know I haven't spent a lot of time learning the ways of Washington. But I've been there long enough to know that the ways of Washington must change."

If a black guy wins the presedency.........ANY black guy -- that would be big.

His announcement was followed by a really good speech...Can't imagine this guy does all his speeches from memory..I would love to see him succeed..I just tired of the politics in Washington..

Wouldn't mind Guiliani to be honest...
holfresh @ 2/10/2007 1:25 PM
Guiliani the guy who was completely broke and bankrupt during his divorce and couldn't pay anything to his wife and a about 1 yr later was able to buy an investment bank...Where does a mayor who previously had no money get the money to do that...Very close ties to the corrupt Bernie Kerit, Guiliani recommended to Kerit to head up Home Land Security...How does Guiliani offer any change to how this country is currently govern???

Guliani supported the Iraq war from the beginning and now supports escalating it.
holfresh @ 2/10/2007 1:54 PM

As mayor, the classy Guiliani brought his mistress to Gracy Mansion while still being married with his wife present and kids at home...He was making public appearances at girlfriend shows while being married and still being mayor...he has been married three times..I can't wait to see him explain family values to middle America...

Allanfan20 @ 2/10/2007 2:12 PM
First off, I am not a democrat or a republican, so don't get that gist. I personally think that this side choosing is what has divided this country in the first place. Secondly, I don't support this war, but do you guys really think it would stop terrorism if we just instantly got all of our troops out of there, and things would magically be better? I personally think it's just a lose lose situation, no matter what happens.
Bonn1997 @ 2/10/2007 2:18 PM
Don't you think it indicates awful judgment to have supported this war from the beginning and to still support it today?
Allanfan20 @ 2/10/2007 2:27 PM
It depends. Our excuse for going in was to find weapons of mass destruction and turn Iraq into a democracy. (Or so that's the vibe I get)

We found no WOMD, and I personally think that you can't tame that society because I think there's just way too much chaos that has gone on there, from civilians, terrorists and Iraqi soldiers turning on us as well as their own people. In which case, I think it's a lost cause.

However, if we just leave, the Taliban regroups, Al-Quaida comes out from hiding and ultra chaos is brought back in that area and could spread widely.

It's honestly just way too difficult for me to pass judgement on this. That area is screwed with or without us.
holfresh @ 2/10/2007 2:39 PM
I think people should move away from the parties and all the partisan politics that has corrupted both parties over the years..Imagine the Mexican Government has lobbyist in Washington that has donated over 200 million USD to political campaigns over the last five years...And we wonder why we cannot get a comprehensive policy with regards to the border with Mexico...

It's not about democrat or republican, It's about leadership and trust...We as a nation need to make some bold decisions in the next Presidency...We have to take a serious look at the environment and Global warming...Health care for all needs to be addressed...We need to work our way back into the Global community...We need to answer some serious questions about the middle east and our role in it...Our approach terrorism and the war against terrorism...Is the United States still the leader of the free world or do we not have the support of the world that we have apparently lost over the last few years...Big Questions and not easy answers...We need smart and bright leadership...

The Presidency is not a position that can go on auto pilot as many thought when this president was elected...We need to look at the individuals and not necessarily the parties...We need to move forward as a Nation and make some bold moves...Who do we want to make those decisions for us...Big Question...Not an easy answer...For me, I'm tired of politics as usual..I'm tired of big companies essentially runny our government and making decisions that only benefits them and not the masses as a whole...Regardless of what each of our beliefs are, how can we not examine scientifically Global warming to see if green house gases are are causing Global warming...What do we have to lose and our entire existence as a species is in the balance...Who can argu against that expect Big Oil who is currently recording historic profits quaterly..In fiscal year 2006 British Petroleum, Chevron, Royal Dutch Shell, ConocoPhillips, and Exxon Mobil earned a combined $113.3 billion in profits...Like it or not they are our current policy makers...I not happy with that, are you???...Big decisions coming up in 2008....

I hear you. In the interest of full disclosure, I'll acknowledge (as you probably figured out by now) that I'm a liberal democrat and I support Obama. (I might vote for Gore ahead of him in the primary if Gore were to run, though.)

I don't think there is a solution to the problems in Iraq. There's a humanitarian crisis in Iraq that we (really the Bush administration) sparked. I'm not gonna pretend to have the foreign policy expertise to be able to evaluate the policy options in Iraq (and I'd be surprised if anyone else on this board truly had that degree of knowledge).

interesting analysis

personally don't feel he's electable. Unfortunately people see his race as probably his most prominent characteristic and I think that there's alot of racial tension and uneasiness in the current political climate.

There is nothing more I would love than seeing a Black man in the white house. Unfortunately it will never happen.
playa2 @ 2/10/2007 8:53 PM
Barack has as much a chance of steping to the whitehouse as paul Winfield did in the movie "Assassination File" http://movies2.nytimes.com/gst/movies/movie.html?v_id=174137

Yeah, I think Bill Clinton is as close as we're going to get.

If Obama or Hillary gets elected, I will immediate fear for their lives. I'm not sure if this country is ready for a black man or a woman as president.
BigSm00th @ 2/15/2007 3:47 AM
i'm pretty tired of the quip that if a black or a woman get elected they will get shot. never in america.

that's a cop out in my opinion. i've been for obama ever since his speech in the 04 dem. prim. i believe, and if america isn't ready now, it never will be. this is utterly ridiculous, we are living in AMERICA right? this is a free democracy ya? the fact that the US has only had white christian male presidents is pathetic.

as the late owen hart once said, enough is enough and its time for a change.
