Just saw "Ready Player One" with my boys age 21 and 14. We all loved it. If you like 80s Pop culture you will love this movie. It is fun and funny and the action is tremendous. They even have the Akira motorcycle. Loads of easter eggs.

You had me at "Akira motorcycle" lol. Nice to see Spielberg getting back into sci-fi.

Just saw Avengers Infinity War. Holy shit. Great movie. A must see.

Finally got to see "Black Panther" this weekend. Brilliantly executed for a "Superhero fantasy" storyline!
NYKBocker@ 5/29/2018 10:42 AM
Saw 2 movies this weekend.
Saw Deadpool 2 with the wifey. Hysterical! Ryan Renolds is Deadpool. Read a review saying it had a sitcom vibe to it and I would have to agree. The action is superb. The CGI is awful just like the first deadpool movie but I think that is part of the shtick. Morena Baccarin is one hot lady.
Saw Solo. I liked it a lot. The actor who portrayed Han did a great job. He has a lot of Harrison Fords mannerism including the way he shoots and the way he falls. Donald Glover also did a great job in portraying Lando. The Mother of Dragons on the other hand I though was a weak link. It was a blah performance. Woody was awesome as always but I am a big Woody fan so there's that. Thandie Newton is gorgeous as ever. BUT...Chewie stole the movie. Their 1st meeting was awesome.

From 1972? Robert Redford?

Once Upon a Time ine the West. Saw is a long time ago but it was great to revisit. One of Henry Fonda's only villain roles and one of his best roles period

I was a big fan of "Logan". Was a first rate film that happened to be about a superhero. A fan of James Mangold as well.
Its great that a director with his rep isnt afraid to direct a franchise film. "Copland"got bad reviews, but I thought it was the last great old school NY crime film.
Anyway, looks like Mangold is going to co write, and direct the Boba Fett film in the Star Wars franchise. Looking forward to seeing it more than the usual Star Wars release.

Cop Land was good. I remember it got a lot of publicity because it was Stallones first serious dramatic role in 20 years. Its not perfect but a real good urban crime dram/western

Just saw Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. I wasn’t really in love with it. I mainly just watch now because I love dinosaurs and Chris Pratt has proven to be an awesome actor.
Half of it made no sense and some of the dinosaurs could have been done better and makers of the dinosaurs seem to straight up ignore what science is starting to prove. There were some nice parts though. I will definitely see the third one, whenever it comes out.
Infinity war was amazing. Deadpool was really really good. I really liked Black Panther too but I should definitely re-watch that. Looking forward to Ant-Man And Wasp, Venom, the movie about Queen And definitely a few others.
Cheerios.

Just saw Creed 2. Not as good as the first creed but still cried a little. Can't go wrong with a rocky movie

I thought Creed 2 was better. Last fight scenes were great.

I liked the first Creed better, but two was Ok. The sequel's pacing didn't flow as quickly as I'd like, but you can never go wrong with light heavyweights going toe to toe with amped up super heavyweights in over the top action sequences. Rocky movies will always get a thumbs up from me. Even the ones with Tarver and Morrison. FYI, Creed II isn't a horror movie, despite the inclusion of Brigette Nielson.

Reply to a post from 4 years ago? LMAO Yeah, I was going for sarcasm.
Still, a great movie. Some really great lines.

I saw First Man the other day! Hated it :/ One of the blankest/saddest performances by Ryan Gosling... he just made it so dull. I know Armstrong was a dull person, but I was never supporting this character because, well, I was never given an opportunity to have a reason. He never broke down and said something like "I don't know how I can do this" to his wife, which would reveal he's scared and vulnerable, like everyone would be. Then once he finally reaches the moon, the audience can be like "yay! You did it Neil!" But no, just boring face.
The erratic camerawork and extra extra extra closeup of faces made this unsufferable.
The scenes in space were too frantic and the scenes on Earth were too boring... 0/5.

i thought 2018 was a very good movie year.
my 2 favorite comedies: the favourite and the death of stalin. both killer funny, great dialogue, very sardonic irreverent humor.
2 favorite human drama pieces: capernaum and if beale street could talk. very heavy pathos in both, highly sympathetic characters, gnawing heart-aching story lines. really beautifully developed, moving movies.

Before you see Captain Marvel, this was the first female superhero to get her own show. Remember watching the Shazam/Isis show when I was a kid.

I dont remember that but the narrator and music reminded me of "Sealab 2020"

Just saw Captain Marvel. It's very good. It's obviously and origin story so it doesn't move the MCU stories along. My kids said they liked it but they thought Wonder Woman was better. Same with Aquaman
NYKBocker@ 4/8/2019 11:36 AM
Just saw Shazam!. Man, another great movie from DC. They are gaining ground with Wonder Woman, Aquaman and now Shazam!.
Had some reservations about Zachary Levi being cast but man was I wrong. He is Shazam.
