Cleveland Cavaliers centre Scot Pollard looked into the camera during a recent game and said: "Hey kids, do drugs."
Pollard was sitting on the bench in street clothes when he made the remark during a 20-second timeout Sunday against Indiana. The Cavaliers didn't find it funny.
"We have spoken with Scot and certainly do not condone his actions," general manager Danny Ferry said in a statement. "We will handle the issue internally."
"It was a bad joke," Pollard said in yesterday's edition of the Plain Dealer. "That's all it boils down to.

IMHO I guess this didn't make network news, if we had a real war on drugs in this country it would have.

"Hey Scott, nice hair cut." (..he still has that mohawk, right? ok good...)
Pretty stupid to joke about that as an NBA player when you know you're talking into the camera. What an asshole.
I'd probably say Scot Pollard would be the coolest NBA cat to hang out with though. You gotta give him that.
Ferry should be upset with himself, that guy is a disaster
awesome stuff, kids should do drugs
He should get fined for this

Who cares?
You're ignorant.
FIne him $10,000 and let him issue a statement that what he said was a bad attempt at humor and while funny for "mad tv" or "Saturday nite live", it would be innapproriate for a broadcast. In no way would he expect anyone to run out and do drugs after looking at his face!
Anyone bugged out by his sarcastic remark needs to chill.
Its not like any kind is gonna run out and buy some drugs cuz Ugly Scot said to do so. If they did, they were gonna anyway.
The Cavs organization should issue what ever remark to quell the bullcrap so many rightous organizations are gonna jump on this to see their name in lights.
If Larry was the GM of the Cavs, this would never have happened!

Professional sports figures have influence, some kid contemplating using drugs because of peer pressure just went over the edge with Pollards remarks.
Television has a way of influencing our youth, pollard took a stupid pill just before the camera zoomed in to focus on his face.

You must be describing only the most impressionable kids. Yoo said the same thing about gay athletes. Thats gonna make some kid run out and be gay because there is a gay athlete. Now should we just ban athletes from getting divorced, having babies out of wedlock, etc... NO... you care about the things that matter least.
If a professional sports figure has more influence that you do as a parent, to the point where you feel like you have to police the pros because of the example they set then i say "shame on you for not raising your kids better than that".

Playa personified:
If Scot Pollard looked into the camera lense and screamed, "Don't do drugs"...it still wouldn't have any bearing upon the insurmountable level of drug usage that continues to plague the USA.
On the other hand, if the CIA stopped bringing the dope into the country, it would.

I'm sure all kids will suddenly do drugs because the almighty Scott Polard, with the greatest hair God could give to someone, told them to do so.
