Off Topic · Yankees have the worst outfield in baseball (page 1)

It's freakin pathetic. $230 mil and you can't even put together the 29th best outfield but are stuck at 30th. They can't hit or field.

Its pathetic. Yanks totally screwed themselves.

Bad thing about it is they aren't even trying to make changes.

Put Abreau at DH. I'm happy enough with a Matsui/Damon/Melky outfield.
Anyone in the farm that can help now? We could use some middle inning relief first and foremost...

Cashman is being exposed...What Minaya has done with the Mets personnel wise is short of amazing..Minaya knows baseball and it's players...Cashman has not added an affordable piece to this puzzle in some years now...Yanks are paying for this now...The yanks has not had a decent middle reliver or set up man since Jeff Nelson...How can you not get one in how many years with the deepest wallet in baseball...

Abreu would have the lowest slugging % of any DH in history. Let him DH in the minors! I'm not sure Damon is a better fielder anyway. When he's fully healthy, he probably is. But right now he's a liability in the outfield.

what has minaya done? the mets haven't won a got damn thing...

its not about winning..you dont expect organizations to start winning out of the blue...1st you have to have a plan and follow that blueprint...and what minaya has done is noteworthy, each year this team has improved and the minor league system is filled with young talent..

In a league with no salary restrictions and with a $230 mil payroll, you should never have to drop to a .400 team just to rebuild. If it was "not about winning" then why did Roger Clemens just get $30 mil?

I agree with you, Cashman has sucked, big time. It's time to bring someone new in and give them a shot to lead this team.

I agree to an extent about Minaya. On paper, you like what he's done but as TKF said, the Mets haven't won a damn thing yet.

BTW, since Cash-Man allegedly got full control of the team in Oct 2005, he's added $80 mil in payroll this year alone on veterans who are supposed to help us win now and has ironically turned a a .600 team into a .450 team. Maybe he's added a couple of good players to the farm system but with an unlimited payroll, you should be able to improve the farm system and improve (or at least not dramatically worsen) the team's mlb roster at the same time.

I forgot who it was that was making all the hoopla over A-Rod, but A-Rod has dissapeared since he went on that tear. Still a big phony in my book. I really hope he leaves after this season. This team is finally getting what it deserves. I suppose they'll blame Cashman now and fire him.

13.5 games..................

Abreu is awful in all facets of the game. He's just an awful baseball player.
JohnWallace44 @ 6/3/2007 10:47 PM
Abreu was one of our best players last year. He's in some kind of funk though.

I would like to move Jeter into center and get a young ss in there with better lateral range, but we seem to only have corner IF prospects in the minors. It would have to be a trade or A-rod.

The signing of Shef was one of the first mistakes, as much as I like him, he was at the tail end of his career, and I felt they Yanks should have been moving to get younger. I thought they should have went and signed Guerro who was significantly younger. Sure, he had a back injury, but it didn't scare the Angels. Looks like that would have been the better decision.

Cash and Stein have been adding player, after player, after player in the tail end of their careers.
