I guess you didn't read the whole sentence. I understand that anybody who raises a oppositional point is going to be deemed anti-puppy but I'm not saying at all that canines should tortured for some cheap bloody thrill. I am saying that in the larger societal picture that two grown men wailing on each other in a sanctioned interruption of an otherwise decent sport, purely to satisfy the common bloodlust of suburban wanna-be tough guys (picture the average islander fan screaming over his cheap beer "yeah...Simon give it to em good baby...chop em down like a tree") is almost identical to the type of wannabe thug who participates in dog fighting in some back alley. Now, maybe it's not seen that way because of the veneer of race thats laid over everything in america but honsetly we have Pistons/Pacers almost every night in the NHL & it's seen as business as usual in America. Once again I'm no supporter of Vick & his ilk but lets just ease back on the hypocrisy for a minute...

Whats your point? There are some similarities, in that they both involve fighting. But if that is your basis for comparing the two then its a terrible comparison. And race has nothing to do with dog fighting, the way the animals are treated does. So if you want talk about how " the veneer of race thats laid over everything in america" applies to basketball and hockey feel free to start a thread. But that has nothing to do with these fucks that fight dogs. I might as well say that we shouldnt be "hypocritical" toward dogfighting because everybody enjoys a good round of streetfighter 2 now and then, and after all we have boxing. I once saw a guy punch a guy in the bar, so how is that different from fighting dogs right? Cmon, lets just ease up on the hypocrisy for a minute

Why are people seemingly trying to justify it?

Some people are sick human beings.

I'm not justifying dog fighting, but its a bit much to hear the outcry against dogfighting when we live in a society where cows are hung by their feet on a conveyor belt that takes them to their slaughter as we watch our stars endorse McDonalds and Burger King.

And its funny, that a lot of people would be more figiving if he had just taken steroids or something. Vick didn't cheat on the game of football, he didn't cheat or abuse his wife, he didn't rape or kill a person. He engaged in the canine version of gladiator. I'm a vegetarian. I don't justify Vick, i just question the apparent double-standard when it comes to canines.

Maybe there are other forms of animal cruelty as well, but here we are talking about dogs, not cows. Feel free to start a cow thread. I think if you were more familiar with the methods used in dogfighting you wouldnt be defending it. Regardless of your opinion, the federal government agrees with me and your boy will be facing federal charges. The feds dont lose. So I hope the piece of shit spends the next five years in a cage.!) A) I'm not defending Dog Fighting. People treat dogs very well in this country. The rest of the world doesn't hold dogs in very high esteem. America is dog-crazy to the point of borderline insanity.

B) Vick isn't my boy. Its highly annoying to have you ascribe defense of dog fighting and defending Vick to me. Don't presume anything about the arguer because you dis not understand the arguement. And you don't really seem to know the methods used to raise and slaughter livestock when you cavalierly dismiss it.

I'm not here to argue with meat-eaters... just don't go saying how eating meat is the way of life. Why are my teeth straight and dull instead of sharp for tearing into flesh? Why do fruits and veggies taste good to me and need little preparation? Etc. etc.. many reasons i could say eating vegetables is the natural way of life. I don't wanna go there on this board. Eat meat all you want. But why is it better to EAT meat (many cultures eat dog) and EAT dogs than to watch them fight. If anything i should call out IZYBYX for defending DOG eating.

Ridiculous.

kam, I'm sorry, I think you're a good guy, but that's just a terrible comparison. Apples and oranges. There's a huge difference between killing for food and torture. And again, did you miss the part where they mentioned the dogs that were starved and/or killed because they weren't 'up to par' when it came to fighting?
