well, there is a LOT of things i have an issue with on the hip hop list, especially how they ranked lyricists. who ranked them, some college student who have nothing to do but assume how these artisits should be ranked?

Well, you already know that list is flawed as heck, and quite a matter of one mans opinion, b/c they are putting rappers names in the "Greatest rock artists of the 90s" page. I'm not a huge fan of these ranking things though. Everyone's opinion vary so much, that you can never determine who is actually the best, and who isn't.

To give some credit to that site, the creator's have put a lot of time and effort into all those lists. There are always debates in the forums about what the appropriate spots are for all these artists. The people who devoted their time to these lists do *seem* like they know what they're talking about.

Of course, there are the obvious inherent deficiencies of any list, mainly that it's all just opinion. But I'm not sure if it was the editor's intention for this list to be the end-all decision in music debate. Instead, I thought you would acknowledge the work and perhaps let it influence your own thinking.

as someone who plays the guitar, I can tell you that I stopped reading after I saw the top rock guitarists, guitar solos and guitar riffs.

the only way one can safely publish lists of these kinds is to put out an UNRAKED list of "most influential" whatever of all time. not "ranked list of the best whatever", because it makes you look like a douche.
