Dirk Norwitski was shying away from contact all night and even let the Spurs get away with easy lay-ups because he was afraid of getting called for a foul.
There was a play I can't remember if it was Rose or Duncan but one of them made a move and Dirk just stood right under the basket without even attempting to stop the ball. Van Exel gave Dirk the "come on Dirk!" look and started barking at him. Dirk was doing it all night.
Towards the end they put Duncan on Dirk which they should have done from the get go. On offense Dirk was guarding Robinson or Malik Rose mostly and Duncan for short stints. Why weren't they trying to punish and go at Dirk? Dirk doesn't like to bump or play defense. Everytime they would start a post up on Dirk they would look to pass while Dirk would be backing up. Dirk don't want no parts of the Spurs in the post.
Dallas keep scoming back because the Spurs think that they can keep up with the scoring of Dallas. As proved in game 1 and the begining of the 4th quarter....there is no lead safe with Dallas if they can get open on the perimeter.
The Spurs suck.
Spurs in 7.

I can't see the spurs winning I don't think the NBA would allow two small market teams to make the finals. NJ and SA. If Pistons make a massive run then I can see the Spurs in the finals.

You may be right but I think if they do win th eNets are gonnabeat them in 6!!!
If that happens the Knicks will have officially fallen off the basketball map. New Jersey will beat it in our heads for years to come.

What are they going to do... hire Tonya Harding to deal with Tim Duncan? C'mon...

Maybe thats what the Knicks need. There is nothing like a cross the river rival who out does you. That might be the best thing that could happen to the NYK organization. They might change their approach instead of just playing for playoffs they might actually start playing for a championship.
spurs had a clue last night, prod said it best no team in the east can beat a top team in the west
that is true.

very sad but true.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Playa. After I read his post, I doubled my bet!

haha... I have over 100 bucks bet on the spurs here at work.... I am already counting my money....
I hate the nets....
When you got two guy like Duncan and Robinson you need a Mutombo in there to alter shots and for Defense. Not like Collins and Williams will give you more points. I think B Scott is being stubborn and not playing the guy to spite him, and when the Nets lose and Kidd goes off somewhere else, we'll see what Scott does. Then again, I see them trading Mutombo for another quality player, might need to do it for a point i think.
mutombo look like he is running on stilts now.
rotf.
the year is 2003 flyingvee
mutumbo aint playing cause he sucks. he had one block did nothing else. he doesn't even board anymore. he sucked last year in philly too
they don't hear you!
i remember feeling sick on my stomach watching the sixers vs the celtics in the playoffs last year and watching mutombo.
i can't even believe that someone, anyone... would think that mutombo would be a big factor in this series. it's funny to me. dikembe can't move his feet from left to right anymore
many of these people that think mutumbo is a factor think the nets will win in 6 despite losing the first game an also despite no finals have ever saw the 2 seed win all three games at home. since the 2 -3 - 2 format. simple mathematics too me. i think the Author of this thread, was wrong the spurs have a clue, people who write threads that the spurs don't have a clue dont have a clue. I cant sing the spurs praise too much they some choke artist mofo's despite that they are better than the three man team of the "so called deep nets". Nets got good players on the bench but if the big three plays bad they lose.
Mutombo is an old man and was in moth balls but, what is Richard Jefferson's excuse? He didn't show up!!

Three nets that didn't show up. Kittles, Collins and Kidd. I thought Jefferson scored well but his passing was pretty bad. I think the long Layoff had a lot to do with some of the players stamina. Jason Collins looked like he grew roots same with Kidd. Scott should have given run to Mutombo it was obvious they need him out there instead of Collins he was terrible defensively. I mean Robinson scored to many points in the first game. I think the next game will be better for the Nets.
not sure they win win, but i think they will at least be in the game.
From the way the nets looked after the game, this thing could be over in 3 more games. They lost a lot of steam with that loss. I would LOVE to see the damn nets get SWEPT, 2 years in a row.

That fast-break game of theirs lasted only for a half. The whole "long layoff" excuse is dead because SA actually turned it up in the second half. Duncan played like someone who deserves the MVP having a 30/20 game, and Robinson and Parker backed him up with solid efforts too. Let the nets crash, burn and perish with NO wins (not even 1 win, like the Knicks in '99 vs. SA). Those cats talk way too much crap not to have it coming to 'em.

As much as I can't stand the Spurs (running about 4 years now), I'd still rather see them win than those jawjackers across the river.
