2 hints leave your cash in the front pocket of your pants, and go and find a good slice of pizza. also go to one of the corner hot dog and souvlaki stands and have a sabretts hot dog with mustard and oinions and a stick of souvlaki with bread. dont walk around with your head up in the air looking at the buildings because thats when your pocket or purse with be picked.
Hey French,
Ive been to NewYork three times and allways liked to stay in Manhatten. I guess it depends on what you wanna experience. Last time I stayed at the Milford Plaza, which is right around the corner of TImes Square and it was affordable.
Def. take some nice day off in the sun and go to Central Park, just sit there or wander around and watch the summer life going around there... its fun!!!
Go get a Baggel for breakfast!!!! Love it!!!!
Have fun man!!!!
Oh and DON'T under any circumstance watch a Knicks game!!! It will completely ruin your trip!!!!
;-)
Thanks so much for all those replies, keep them coming ! I'm a little bit surprised about how almost everyone is telling me to stay in Manhattan since it looks like a 10min subway ride could take me to much more affordbale places for my stay.
For example, I found a 3 star hotel in Long Island right next to a subway station, for less than $120 a night. 3-star hotel in Manhattan cost twice as much, and a 10min subway ride is almost nothing.
Living in Paris, I'm just so used to travelling around with the subway... I think I'll go with the cheaper option for my hotel. We don't care about the subway rides or staying in a trendy place.

trust me, u don't wanna have to take the subway back home after a long night of drunken revelry... it's so much easier to just walk out of your hotel & explore NY on foot w/ur girl, especially if you're an out of towner... u don't wanna get lost taking the wrong subway & end up in some shady area of the city after hours... but it's up to u bro.

Do this and expect be in the bathroom in 15 mins.......sometimes that stuff is good but its the chance you take.......so I would advice you to use the bathroom in barnes and nobles book store. If you are on 14th that's the only place you can go if you got an emergency like that. The other one is around 8th street and broadway. You'll also find on around the west 4th train station.
If you are on 34th with a doo doo emergency, there are a few places but they all stink like hell. You got the manhatten mall on 33rd and 6th. You got Macy's on 34th. Old Navy across from Macy's. And then there are 2 big public bathrooms right in penn station. One on the 7th avenue side by the LIRR ticket booths and the other is under MSG on 33 and 8th.
42nd......you can always use McDonalds on 42nd but use the one upstairs cuz for some reason nobody uses that one. Its clean. Then there is a bathroom open for use in Virgin record store on 49th(I think) and broadway. Its not an active bathroom. Toys r us has a bathroom too that's clean but its busy and the kids will be laughing at your stinkin ass. The port authority has a bathroom too but good like finding it. I would recommend staying away from there anyway cuz there will be a lot of hoodlums lurking.
Other than barnes and Nobles in the 14th street, soho areas.....you can always hope to find an empty stall in starbucks....but if you really have to go and the shit is about to shoot out, then you will be in trouble going here. Besides, who wants to be the stinky that blows up the whole coffee shop with your explosive diarrea.
Laugh if you want bros....but this is some real advice for that ass......literally.

What about the men's room at Bryant park? I seem to recall they had an attendant there and it wasn't to bad.
Interesting this should come up here - I have heard that they are much more civilized about having public restrooms in France.

"For me to poop on!"
Basketballjones - that bryant park bathroom is no place to poop. That place is like a hangout for families. Since you are over there anyway, I'd rather run like hell to grand central 2 blocks over. That's a good poo poo spot.
As far as hotels.....there is a Howard Johnson on 34th street. Its kinda hidden next to a Popeyes chicken, but people won't pay you any mind coming outta there. The entrance looks smaller than a store front.
Its April Frenchy.......you should have a blast out here. Spring is the absolute best time to come to the city. Hold hands and please don't argue or spend any daylight screwing for that matter. Just bang those streets and have some fun.
The Bums here on UK could help you out if you need any advice. If you have the internet on your phone? Marvelous.

yeah, you can be like Eny and run from public toilet to public toilet and not miss a post on UK or BangBros.

Long Island does not have subway stations. Unless you mean Brooklyn or Queens which is technically Long Island, but New Yorkers refer to the Island as Nassau and Suffolk counties. Long Island has the LIRR (Long Island Railroad) which is above ground and runs east to west and vice versa. Where on LI is the hotel? I ask because there are some crappy places on LI especially right near the train stations.
On Long Island there are a lot of hotels in the Garden City area near the Roosevelt Field Mall. It's close to the LIRR and only about a 30 minute trip into Manhattan. Plus there are lots of fancy stores and tons of places to eat over there. And it's near the Nassau Coliseum where you could see an Islanders game. Oh and Roosevelt Field has a link to Paris. Charles Lindberg was the first pilot to fly solo non stop across the Atlantic to Paris in 1927.
take my word for it, i grew up in nyc and there is no such thing as a 10 min subway ride, esp frpm LI!!

I work for the MTA and I know that's right!
Guys, I'm about to make my booking, so I really need your opinion on our findings :
http://www.booking.com/hotel/us/quality-...New 3-star hotel in long island city very close to many subway and bus station... seems like an awesome quality/price
What do you think about this choice ? We don't mind commuting every day as long as it's less than 30 minutes to get to mid town.
An other choice like this one :

I say keep looking. Your sort of into 'smack-dave in the middle of it'.
Well, after reading over 100 reviews of the quality inn hote, I ll go for that one.
I think if you don't mind not being in the center of Manhattan then those options work pretty well.
Long Island City is right across the East River from Manhattan and near good trains for getting to the city. The 7 train will link you to pretty much every major subway and take you directly to Times Square, Grand Central Station and Bryant Park/Old NY Public Library.
P.S. 1 is a cool museum too.
Thanks so much guys, we booked the Quality Inn Long Island. We paid 1000 USD for 7 nights, which I think is great. The hotel is brand new and is located next to a big subway station, which is what we wanted.
I will now try to get tix for the Knicks season finale at MSG against the Celts, and for one of the two Yankees-Red Sox games played that week. Are there a lot of rainouts in NYC in April ? I'm just scared about that, but it' part of going to a baseball game.
Yankees-Red Sox will be great, I don't know if I should also go to Shea Staidum...
