NBA · ALL OR NOTHING FOR NETS!! (page 1)

Pike @ 7/10/2003 10:56 AM
Wow, amazing article in the Post stating Kidd only stays if Thorn fires Byron Scott. That's what I call drama... and what a position Jason has put Thorn. If true, the Nets would be forced to fire a successful, young winning coach who has twice led the team to the NBA Finals. Of course, right or wrong... this is a business and if Kidd is willing to commit, we'll probably hear about the firing towards the end of this week... then Thorn (and to a certain extent Kidd) is the bad guy... but, as the writer mentioned, if the Nets keep winning no one will care. Doesn't say much about integrity but, it's a business and life in the NBA. We know who's holding the hammer in the league... the super stars. Finally, if Kidd stays, the article goes on to say... this should lure them Alonzo Mourning... stakes are extremely high to say the least... complete Nets future hangs on one man's decision (with Jouwana's input of course). What will Jason decide? How many lives get affected in the process? Hmmm...

jason kidd put the man out there like that? HAHAHA
ARES @ 7/10/2003 11:10 AM
pike the post is one step above the enquirer, like my man nec says.

you don't catch a peep of this on espn, msn cnn or any of the other lying media outlets.

dont believe the hype.

I'm signing on to slamonline , web forums later on today the forums are pretty cool yall should check it if you can
Pike @ 7/10/2003 11:19 AM
My guess is... it's true but, Kidd is probably outraged that it got out to the press... I'm sure he's seething right now and my guess is... this doesn't help the Nets re-sign him. Of course, as you say, it's mere speculation but, I think there's some truth to this story.
ARES @ 7/10/2003 12:28 PM
you prolly believe there is truth to the enquirer as well.

espn didn't even bother with this story.

this sounds more like the post selling papers.
Pike @ 7/10/2003 12:30 PM
... you already said that... I heard you the first time. lol
HARDCOREKNICKSFAN @ 7/11/2003 11:55 AM
I wish that drama spiraled out of control the way I expected it to...

But unfortunately, it didn't.

Not only will Kidd go back to the damn nets....

But Zo is getting a 4-year, 20MM deal too....

http://nydailynews.com/front/breaking_news/story/99941p-90391c.html

That's it.... LAYDOWN MUST BE FIRED if he doesn't make something happen (FAST) that no one has yet to think of in order to improve the team...

First this madness with the Lakers gettin' Payton and Malone... now the nets(???) pull this stunt. What are our Knicks doing? Sitting around with their thumbs up their a$$es.
Pike @ 7/11/2003 11:58 AM
The Kidd news making you just figure this out about Layden

lmao...
HARDCOREKNICKSFAN @ 7/11/2003 12:03 PM
I know it's old news, Pike...

It's just that these moves made by other teams only magnifies our current problems.

I have never been pro-LayDown.... and have believed for some time that it's time for a new GM.
Pike @ 7/11/2003 12:05 PM
I'm just messing with you... you're singing my song!
HARDCOREKNICKSFAN @ 7/11/2003 12:19 PM
At this point, what do you think the NYK can actually do? Is the mess that our idiot management team in the front office has gotten us into so bad that there is no possibility of making it better outside of having to wait (more) years for these asinine contracts to run out or before LayDown and Dolan die of old age?!?!

ARES @ 7/11/2003 12:58 PM
how old is dolan??

he only looks about 50

anyway his son will take over
prodson @ 7/11/2003 1:09 PM
i was hoping that kidd wouldn't go back to new jersey because i don't think i can take another nets finals.

i hate when free agents huff and puff and threaten to blow the house down and all of that other blase blase bs and then they go right back to their original team. like kidd is going to.

so alonzo is a net huh...

new jersey loves their cavemen

ARES @ 7/11/2003 1:53 PM
he should of went to the spurs.
Pike @ 7/11/2003 2:29 PM
It's official... KIDD STAYS!!
playa2 @ 7/11/2003 3:12 PM
So when will ya'll go!
ARES @ 7/11/2003 4:37 PM
wrong again playa i thought kidd was leaving cause scott suck's.
Bobby @ 7/11/2003 6:37 PM
Maybe the only reason Kidd decided to stay with NJ is because he could not see SA competing with LA especially after Malone's decision in signing with LA.

At least with Jersey and ZO he has a better chance of going championship from the east.

This may be viewed as showing your true colors or just using your NOODLE.

I don't think it's that. Tim Duncan and Jason Kidd is a better one-two than Kidd-Zo. Ginobli is becoming a legitmate 3. So is Richard Jefferson (despite his horrific mid-range shooting). Kidd would have been better off with SA. I think if Kidd went to SA, Zo would have followed him there.

Imagine a lineup:

PG-Kidd
SG-Bowen
SF-Ginobli
PF-Duncan
C-Mourning

That's a better five overall (incuding Parker off the bench) than:

PG-Kidd
SG-Kittles
SF-Jefferson
PF-Martin
C-Mourning

Hmm...what are the Nets going to do with Mutumbo, that waste, anyway? There is a market for big men, but will anyone take him? SA?

Interesting you find Ginobilli is becoming a legitimate 3, Nevertheless, did you trade Stephen Jackson and Malik Rose to acquire Zo and Kidd ?

Actually, I like Zo coming off the bench with Jason Collins at the the starting position....like he recently has. With that said, Zo should have enough energy and slam to compete in the finals with LA.

And if you get a little creative during the finals, you supersize with Deke and Zo just because KMart may be in foul trouble.

The only trouble Jersey may have is when the Dice starts to roll and NY makes the playoffs......watch out!

Pike @ 7/13/2003 9:55 PM
Jason Collins is NOT the answer. I cannot tell you how underwhelmed I was... watching him in the playoffs. The man can't jump.
