misterearl, what is the correct quote?
From the video I have seen what Briggs posted was correct.
Andrew - dude, I think it is incumbent on Briggs to correct his mistake. Not me.
i don't think the quote is wrong but i believe it is thoroughly out of context

Briggs posted the youtube vid. I watched and listened to it. What am I missing?
If this forum teaches us anything, it is that the nuance of language can lead to huge mis-understandings of intent and interpretation
A Candidate with a bracket?
sounds like a cool dude to me
"I haven't been watching anything lately. That's the biggest problem putting together my bracket. I haven't seen any games. It's all guesswork"
– U.S. Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL), on the NCAA men's basketball tournament
This wasn't about misunderstanding, it was about getting the words correct. What words did Briggs get incorrect?
this is what i found:
"Hope is making a comeback and, let me tell you, for the first time in my adult life I am really proud of my country. Not just because Barack is doing well, but I think people are hungry for change."
(its all about understanding nuance and how it is historically used to distort)
Problem is that once someone's mind is made up, doesnt matter what happens. This is fodder for people to attack Barack on.
Funny that they couldnt find ANYTHING that Barack may have done. No, it's always people he knows. I've never seen a candidate get into so much trouble over what people he knows say.
Its like somehow there's this new country that if your wife, or pasteur says something. Than you MUST believe the same. Because everyone who brings up Michele Obama AGREES with everything their wife or husband says. Right?
Its a joke how easily people read into something, when there's NOTHING there. Just as long as they have something CRITICAL to say. Hillary Clinton VOTED for the war in Iraq. Plain and simple. And never apologized. She sent over 3000 of our children to die. She can say "Oh I didnt know G W was going to do that." YET EVERYONE else did. She also is responsible for how many dead Iraqi people?
And shes a WONDERFUL party builder. Look how great shes brought our party together. Im sure she'll do a GREAT job bringing together the Democrats and the Republicans, like her husband did.
So go ahead and vote for someone who wants a 100 year war, or someone who had a husband as a President and a Democratic house and STILL didnt pass a Healthcare plan. But dont DARE vote for a guy whos got a wife who said one statement you think is offensive and a crazy christian pastor ex-marine with 3 or 4 youtube videos over a decade that you find offensive. Good job!
Oh...she is really proud. Was it so difficult to post that. Sheesh

Briggs omitted a word
earl--I have no idea what you are fixating on. The video is right there to see and listen to.
toodark - Fox News already has another Black pastor lined up who said something negative that can be glued directly to his association with Barack Obama.
Barack Obama once talked to a Chicago pimp who once called a woman a ho.
It's just getting started son.
I listened to 2 versions of the video about 5 times and missed the word. The audio cuts out a little. I'm not suprised it was missed.
Andrew - what is the difference in meaning and interpretation between the two quotes?

And Briggs, did Hillary vote for the war or didnt she? Thats something the candidate did DIRECTLY. If we're talking about spouses, do we wish to discuss Bill Clinton and how he left the Democratic Party? Seems alot bigger to lie under oath and get impeached than a line that could be interpreted in different ways. Are you married? Do you agree with everything your wife says? I cant stress that enough. Did Barack say it or did his wife say it, and did she mean she hates the country or disliked the countries politics.
Its really isnt about anything she said. Its about finding something, ANYTHING, to attack Barack on. A quote someone he is close to said here or there. Does that negate ANYTHING he has ever said? It does to anyone looking for a reason. He can make 500 of the most patriotic, powerful, honest and inspiring speeches and all it takes is 4 or 5 comments by someone close to him and POW, doesnt matter. Its funny how people are.

The bottom line is They found some comments from someone who Obama has a relationship with and he's labeled as evrything "that" person says and he gets knocked enough pegs down so the neo-cons can continue their conqeor and developing "the new world order "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" !
Neo-cons would have him murdered if he became president any way.
MLK, JFK, Malcolm........anybody who rubs the secret elite the wrong way and doesn't allow them to carry out their agenda gets whacked!
Generically, We hold those running for office to a very high standard. The attraction of Obama is the HOPE he generates.
Rev. Wright used Obama to paint a picture that is not consistant with that HOPE. Had we hoped to evolved past that of which the good Rev. spoke of?
There is an ideal that is being sold with Obama that I don't know if he can actually deliver. Perhaps I should ask can our political machine allow himn to deliver?
"GOD DAMM AMERICA" is some pretty strong language despite its intent, and despite its message.
Obamas speach was excellent.
