Gholston, Ellis, Rhodes, Pace, Jenkins, Revis, Harris... JUST STOP!
SupremeCommander @ 4/26/2008 6:31 PM
Trade up for an undersized TE? I feel bad for Jets fans, wow
islesfan @ 4/26/2008 6:34 PM
I threw up in my mouth.
Vmart @ 4/26/2008 6:42 PM
They have no plan.
JohnWallace44 @ 4/26/2008 6:45 PM
that was a panic pick - definitely could have gotten them if they just stayed in their original slot

They have no plan.

Because they didn't take a QB right? What a joke.

I'm not thrilled with the pick, but everything I read about him says that he is a reciever converted to a TE. He'll be a nice red zone target, and with Chris Baker requesting a trade, I don't think it was a panic move at all. Who else would we take? I'd like for Vmart not to answer that last part.

My money is he is going to be converted back to a receiver for the Jets.
CrashDMB237 @ 4/26/2008 7:18 PM
Even if he's not he'll be a nice redzone target. But something tells me you're right, and if thats the case than this was a good pick. Kiper said this guy is ready to play ASAP, and that's what has me sold on it. Like I said, I'm not thrilled, but it's far from a panic move or a bad pick.
joec32033 @ 4/26/2008 7:23 PM
I was hoping for a trade up to get Rashard Mendenhall.

As of now I would like to see them get Jackson(WR from Cal) or Limas Sweed(another Laverneus?). I am nowhere near sold on Cotchery. I really liked the plan I heard a while ago of trading down from the 6, grabbing Leodis(I live in Buffalo and I hate the Bills and they really wanted him), and getting a few more picks.

If I was the Jets I would have grabbed the pick that Cincy grabbed. I am not big on boom-or-bust picks within the top 7 on ANY draft(NBA, NFL, or otherwise).

I think the jets made a big mistake spending the kind of money they did in free agency. its all in and they just have too many question marks, and QB sure is the biggest.

Pennington is finished - to say teams cheat on him is being kind - you don't have to defend beyond 15 yards, and as long as they allow 11 players to be on defense, it clogs things up a lot.

I haven't had a chance to follow the Green last year, and can't quite put my finger on what exactly the problem is over there. We just never seem to have the right kind of receiving team in place. I think taking Moss a few years back was a big mistake. About as big as us taking Nate Robinson. Too damn short. Sounds like the O-D sucks and I never would have thought Chad could've gotten this bad. I still don't think he can be so bad. From all accounts out there, sounds like the guy doesn't get enough protection.

I am impressed with the stingy ass defense they have though. Especially towards the end of the season. I believe the Jets need to bolster the D-line. and pick up a bonnified receiver.

+1 on the bolded part. The Jets always seem to think that 3 posession recievers-3 mid-speed, short, a little above average route running-revievers is a good thing. I mean hell, the last true #1 potential reciever they had was freakin' Keyshawn Johnson what, 10 years ago?

Good Call. I can see him being converted to a slot reciever or can be used similar to the way the Colts use Dallas Clark. I was a little upset with that pick at first, especially with Devin Thomas on the board, but after watching some highlights on Keller, he runs and cuts on a dime like a reciever. Could turn out to be a steal.

Yeah, and the guy goes onto get a super bowl ring the following year. Go figure.

From the video on ESPN after he was picked he reminded me Wes Welker(but taller)/Jurevicious/Brandon Stokely. No real OUTSTANDING type of speed or physical attributes, but enough to create mismatches in our favor.
BRIGGS @ 4/26/2008 9:12 PM

I guess apparently Seattle was trying to get him so we had to do what we had to do. I think it's a great pick--when was the last time we had an athletic physical fast TE. He might not weigh 250+ but he is strong and plays at that size. If he was 20 pounds heavier he wouldve been a top 15 pick. We need explosive playmakers who can get yards after catch since our QB cant throw well past 25 yards. I think the quality over quantity with this pick made sense. I still believe we need a QB but that will play out.

We really do new a quarteback. Pennington cant throw more than 10 yards . No matter how much we improve the rest, if the quarteback sucks then we got nothing. i wasnt impressed with Clemonslast year.. Maybe with a better line he will improve.i would have loved to see Flacco with a 2nd pick. I like Gholston , we need the defense.

I saw some video of him on theganggreen.com Dude is lightning fast for a "TE." Very impressive and will create huge mismatches when a LB has to cover him.

Filling needs through free agency to give them the flexibility in the draft wasn't a mistake. Winning that completely meaningless last game of the year against the Chiefs was a big mistake. They could have had the #2 or definitely the #3 pick today. Typical Jets.

I think it looks like Gholston today which kinda worries me. He says he doesn't like practice and he disappears in games. That's not a good combination. If McFadden and Ryan are gone, I really hope they trade down but I don't think anybody would want to trade up to 6. I'd take Leodis McKelvin over Gholston at this point, or even Jonathan Stewart.

The Jets like to screw with their fan base as much as the Knicks do. The Jets have no intersest in winning a championship they just know that they are sold out for the next 20 years. Every time they let players go in free agency and try to replace them with lesser talent.

Thats the least true thing I've ever read.

Thats the truth. How can you explain such decisions as letting players like Vilma, Abrhams and Coles (to Washington only to get him back) go when they seem to be going in the right direction. This is a flaw in the organiztions thinking that gives the fans an unnecessary feeling of highs and lows. Don't get me wrong I want the Jets to do well I want all NY teams to do well, but there is a seed in the organization of the Jets that doesn't allow for them to go forward and when they do go forward they mange to make decisions to take a step back. If there ever was a a organiztion that was afraid of Success the Jets are a prime example of it.

I'm only going to talk about this offseason. I'm not going to blame the current management for what happened in the past. Vilma has been injury prone and is a terrible fit for the 3-4 that the Jets want to use. They already have a stud in Harris to replace Vilma. No big loss. Robertson is a bad fit for the 3-4 as well and Jenkins is a much better option. Pace is a better option than Hobson and there's no need to get into how much better Faneca is than any of the dead weight they tried at LG last year.

The Jets did a great job in filling all those huge needs. Now they have the flexibility to draft the Best Player Available.

exactly. It is called a plan, something we as knicks fans haven't seen from out basketball team in years.... I want to ask, what do you think about gholston and keller?
CrashDMB237 @ 4/27/2008 12:29 PM
If we don' take John David Booty with this 113th pick VMart will say we have no plan
Anji @ 4/27/2008 2:40 PM
Andre Woodson is The QB I like and I think he will be there in the 6th round. Very god vaule pick.
