Is anyone else watching this? What a story this guy is. UNBELIEVABLE!
nyk4ever @ 7/14/2008 9:50 PM
I remember reading a few years ago reading something that the guy who scouted Mickey Mantle said that the Mick was the best prospect he ever saw in his life... until Josh Hamilton. Just amazing what this guy has been through in his life and he's now doing what he's doing. Amazing..

Amazing. Simply amazing. 28 home runs. The only thing I enjoyed more was the boos for Ortiz as he crossed home plate.

Is this the guy that became a drug addict then some how found his way back to the league........excuse my ignorance......and laziness for not googling it.

Yes it is Eny.

...and he loses.

This is why the HR Derby sucks.
nyk4ever @ 7/14/2008 10:58 PM
Yeah its kinda stupid that he hit more HRs than anyone and still lost. It's a detriment to you to hit more in the first round because it tires you out. Kinda stupid.

it's a shame he didn't win... that was 1 of the most phenomenal displays of power hitting i've ever seen.
djsunyc @ 7/15/2008 11:44 AM
hamilton saved what is one of the most boring sports exhibitions around. how can you sit there and watch 3 hours of batting practice? get rid of this homerun derby or have the best players in baseball compete in it.

the fact that not one Yankee was in it, b/c they were afraid it would mess up their stroke (Cough A-Rod, cough cough) is a JOKE. Babies.

Where was Nate?
sebstar @ 7/15/2008 6:14 PM
They said Bobby Abreu was never the same after his display in '06...

Laugh at Ortiz trying to jinx him...Man, the Yankees not signing him after he left the Twins will probably go down as the biggest non-move in the history of the franchise. Changed the course of history. Too bad that George was obsessed with grabbing as many future hall-of-famers he could, all the while the Sox built a dynasty right under his nose.

Oh well, cant take the late-90's away from us!

woulda been nice to have the stache in the contest to add some flava & excitement for the Yankee fans... kick Jason Varitek or David Ortiz off the damn team, they don't even deserve to be there.

Yankees had already signed Jason Giambi & had Nick Johnson in the fold, at the time their most highly touted prospect.

George is and forever will be the best owner in sports. Don't hate.
