July 31 (Bloomberg) -- The Boston Red Sox traded Manny
Ramirez to the Los Angeles Dodgers as part of a three-team deal
that also involves the Pittsburgh Pirates, Sports Illustrated
reported on its Web site.
Boston gets outfielder Jason Bay from Pittsburgh, which
will receive four minor-league prospects, the Web site reported
without saying where it got the information.
Ramirez, an 11-time All-Star outfielder, has said in the
days leading up to today's Major League Baseball trading
deadline that he's unhappy in Boston. He's hitting .299 with 20
home runs and 68 runs batted in.
Bay is batting .282 with 22 home runs and 64 RBI. The 29-
year-old is a two-time All-Star who's under contract through
next season.
Ramirez, 36, is in the final year of a eight-year, $160
million contract, with Boston holding $20 million options for
the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
