Venezuela to host Russia's Navy exercises in the Caribbean...I wonder what Vice Pres. to be Palin think about this and how would she approach this?
Bonn1997 @ 9/7/2008 10:19 AM
Just watched MTP. Biden's tough and smart but he's not energizing. Sen. Obama's gonna have to do that himself. One of the many things this campaign has done wrong is that they missed out on the crucial first week or so to negatively define Palin.

Hillary wouldve killed her already--she would not be an issue--this is why Im dissapointed. The number 1 reason why I want Obama to win is that I truly believe that he will repair some relationships accross the globe and not let this Russian problem get out of hand. I don't want McCain to win and I think he's going to. I really believe ego is going to cost the democrats the presidency that was all but theirs. Too many robots and religious followers in the US. I take 75% of Americans who only know ther very basic of issues. My main concern is repairing our foreign relationships and curbing some problems that are growing. Mccain is a bellicose hot-head. Clinton wouldve thrwarted this sarah effect and they wouldve had no chance. Biden wa a God awful pick and its going to cost all americans.

I just watched Meet the Press too. The most telling sign was the fact that Brokaw ended the segment by saying that the same invitation was extended to Gov. Palin. I can't not recall anytime that a vice president candidate for the office of the United States did not go on Meet the Press. Are you kidding. A vice president candidate who refuses to answer questions or meet the press. Are you kidding. Hell Palin won't even go on Fox. What's going on here. I saw her do interviews before, I know she can speak english. Why are they hiding her? This is disgraceful this lady is running for the second highest executive job in the Federal goverment and won't show her face to the American people unless its under a control scripted circumstance. She read her speeches in both Michigan and Ohio the last three days. I also think that you're wrong, the press is becoming more unwillingly to stand by and not be given an opportunity to interview her properly. They are setting the tone of her disappearance acts.

You know how many people watch mtp---look at their ratings--not many. They are going to put her in strategic positions to win. The bigger story is that Oprah would not let her on that show which will givbe Palin a sympathetic boost. MTP is watched by grumpy middle aged men.
holfresh @ 9/7/2008 11:42 AM

Meet the Press isn't the only one speaking about it, CNN is as well...It was very telling that Palin's not conducting interviews was the first thing out of Biden's mouth...More networks will hit on this as well as the campaign speaks up about it...

Briggs, my man are you kidding. You don't have a clue. Meet the Press is one of NBC highest rated shows for a non-primetime show or event. Most people get all their political news from Meet the Press. Let it go.

The ratings demographics of the show. It will mean 0--the people who watch this show are not the people that will effect the campaign. They are going to put her on FOX primetime with a Great Van Susteran and then shows like the VIEW Good Morning America etc.. up untilt he deabtes. She is not going to be a change agent of 50 year old men--so meet the press means nothing.

NBC News
For 60 years, "Meet the Press” has featured headline-making interviews with world-leaders and U.S. newsmakers every Sunday morning on NBC. On June 22, 2008 NBC News announced that the network’s veteran anchor Tom Brokaw would moderate Meet the Press through the 2008 election. Brokaw took over after the untimely death of longtime moderator Tim Russert on June 13, 2008. Russert had served as moderator of “Meet the Press” since December 8, 1991. If you have any questions or comments, you can e-mail the show.

ABOUT “MEET THE PRESS”:

"Meet the Press", the longest-running program ever on network television, premiered on NBC-TV on November 6, 1947, with James A. Farley, the former chairman of the Democratic National Committee and Franklin Roosevelt’s postmaster general as its’ first guest. The show made its initial debut two years earlier – as a radio program with Martha Rountree and Lawrence Spivak as producers. For almost as long as there has been television, there has been "Meet the Press".
She may not start out on MTP but she will definetly have to appear on it. If not it will be more telling by her absence. Every Democratic/Republican national politician of our life time has appeared on it.

The republicans will do everything they can to keep her from facing the press in any format. And they will succeed just like they did with Bush. Only right leaning or openly and unabashedly rightist reporters will be allowed to speak to her. Everything she says will be scripted including the questions they are allowed to ask. What part of this is surprising?

Briggs, this will happen after almost any convention give it some time see what happens in a month or so. Barbie will swing voters in both directions may not be a total wash but not everyone cares to vote for someone who openly abuses power.

When I watched this lady on C Span talk for an hour I knew it was over. If someone is waiting for this lady to gaffe--that would be a mistake. She's smart--an excellent speaker--attractive and comes across as real. She's on CH7 this week. I really don't know what is going to stop this momentum. They literally changed the polls upside down in two weeks and they don't have a conduit to stop it---McCain wont FU and they will only put Palin in spots to succeed. She might be on MTP when she's VP.

That's magnificent!

Not only are they complete liars with no sense of a moral compass, but they clearly hold their constituency and their base in absolute contempt. The feel as though their followers are uneducated sheep and any lie or mistruth will go completely unchecked. They get people to vote against their own self-interests with red-herrings like flag pins and racial divisions among other crap.

Its why so many around the world have no respect for this country. Definitely a lightweight evolution of fascism.

briggs this is not "done cooked over rover" you lose more and more credibility with each absurd post about how hillary should've been picked, get over it. you are as self-righteous as the clinton camp, ppl know very little about palin, in a month i'd like to see where public opinion is and in 2 months will be election day. this is far from over, there are in fact 2 months left.

Briggs is being Briggs and I definitely think there is something seriously wrong with him, but he has a point and there is cause for concern.

Palin's record and beliefs are laughable if they werent so scary and the republican party is so adept at dog whistles and dishing out the red meat, to distract and distort. They have almost completely couched all criticism as sexist and liberal bias. Its just amazing. Scandals, hypocrisy, mediocrity, doesnt matter.

There are just so many that are fanatical about not seeing a Black man in office. It would shatter their whole way of being. Thats a major component and I'm not being paranoid.
