go red sox!
Hows that 2 straight years of choking down the stretch working out for you? Your team is a bunch of dogs.
how is it a choke when the team was in first for all of 2 weeks out of the entire season? I think we did pretty well considering how much of a mess our bullpen was with no closer since the beginning of august.

What's first place have to do with it? The Brewers tried to hand the Mets the wildcard on a silver platter throughout September! The Mets choked it up like usual.

I'm a big mets fan. We choked horribly. We suck. Case closed. Fire Omar Minaya.

You believe that if the Yanks ponied up for Johan at the expense of unproven players, even still, that they would be out of the playoffs?

debateable, but the yanks pitching staff gave up less runs and had a lower ERA than last season. the difference was that the offense scored 200 fewer runs = that's over 1 run a game. that's why the yanks weren't able to compete for the postseason.

it's actually more funny than anythying else that u'r hanging ur baseball bragging rights on another team's success that u don't even like just to spite Yankee fans... that's how desperate u've become to latch onto any way to stick it to the fans of a team u'r obviously bitter over.

Don't tell the Yankees how to run things. Got rings?? Why would Cashman listen to a team that took 86 years to win?

i have ties to the team so i do root for them second, but you mean to tell me if it was a mets/phillies series you wouldn't be pulling for philly?

if it was the Mets/Phils, yeah sure i would... but if it was the Phils or Braves vs. Dodgers i wouldn't be rooting for the Phils to win just to spite Mets fans like u when my own team was already out of it... u get ur jollies at Yankees fans' disappointment no matter what happened w/ur own team or how they choked down the stretch to miss out on the playoffs... that's what i find hilarious.

The mets not making the playoffs is a blessing in disguise. And i root for the sox 2nd anyways due to family relations so there you go.
how is it a blessing in disguise not to make the postseason? if the Mets couldn't get back to the playoffs after last year's debacle what makes u think they'll take the necessary steps to do it after this year's? they already traded for the best pitcher in the game & it still wasn't enough to put them over the edge... what next? sign up K-Rod, CC & Mark Texieria? i thought u weren't a fan of the 'Evil Empire' modus operandi? o but as long as the Mets don't spend as much as the Yankees it's all good, right?

if the mets had made the playoffs omar would bring back the same cast and maybe add 1 or 2 minor players. Now, because of the last 2 seasons, he is forced to make bigger changes which the team severely needs. I don't want Krod(even though Omar might), and I dont think we will go after CC or Texieria.

You and I seriously don't agree on anything, but I definitely agree with you about KRod. I think he's grossly overated... GROSSLY. Do you know he didn't come into one game all year with runners on base? Every single save opportunity was a clean-slate start of an inning. I can't wait to see the team that ponies up the cash and makes the mistake of signing him for a crazy amount of money.

that's pretty crazy... to think of all the saves Mo's gotten over the years cleaning up some other pitcher's mess after they'd put men on base... still tho, KRod's pretty nasty whenever u gotta face him, u gotta admit... other than Mo i can't think of many better closers in the game than him... he's gonna get paid by someone no doubt about it... IMO the Mets would do well to sign a guy like him up... he's head & shoulders better than Billy Wagner or Aaron Pukeman.

He is, but the Mets need more than a closer. They need an entire bullpen, Ayala, Heilman, Feliciano, Schoenweiss all have to go. It would be wiser to pick up several good arms for the pen(cruz, affeldt, wheeler, others i cant recall) rather than splurging on a closer with an awkward delivery.
