Off Topic · I think Joe the plumber understands (page 1)

I was actually impressed with Obama's explanation on tax cuts, with Joe the plumber. And Joe seemed to finally understand at the end of the discussion.

this guy really knows how to handle himself under some tough questioning & debates... he laid out that plan for any average guy to understand perfectly... the point about how the plumber's business is actually going to benefit because his customers that make less than he does will have more money to spend on getting their pipes fixed was genius.

Wasn't there a follow up "mini investigation" on this Joe dude and not only does he not own that buiseness but his annual salary is nowhere near 250K. Methinks Joe got paid nicely to do this whole thing.
4949@ 10/19/2008 8:59 AM
Yeah, he caused him to think bigger than his own business, which is usually why successful businesses grow and become stronger. He showed him the bigger picture and that's why I think he understands. Joe was only thinking of himself and not the bigger picture.
I've lost a little respect for McCain in the last debate for trying to spread fear, instead of good level headed policy. Palin just makes me nervous. And I still warn all Obama supporters not' to take this election lightly. I still say it's a lot closer for other reasons other than policy.
And that's why I liked Joe the plumber interview. It helped ease some of those fears.

Joe, in his own words said 'he's getting ready to buy the company'. And I think we should stick to the content of the interview, rather than try to make it into a tabloid.

Yes, AND -Joe the plumber is not a licensed plumber. He lost his license in 2002. -Joe the plumber is not even a registered voter.

That's not the point. The point is 'even if it was a general question, Obama answered it clearly. That's the content to focus on. Not whether Joe is a bad man or a good man.

Oh I agree with that. But it's still pathetic that the GOP can't even pick legitmitate examples

How does him losing his license and him not being a registered voter make him a bad person?

If that's what you wanna focus on, that's okay with me.
I'd rather he be perceived as legit, because it make Obama's explanation more thoughtful. Discredit the man with the question, and you might end up discrediting a very good interview.

What are you talking about? I am voting for Obama, and I thought Obama did outstanding in that interview.

I think there's a little misunderstanding here. All I'm saying 'it was a good interview to acknowledge'. I think the Joe the plumber interview paid off nicely. And we'll just leave it at that.
TMS@ 10/19/2008 10:47 AM
i get what you're saying & i agree... it really doesn't make a difference if the guy was a real plumber or paid off by the McCain camp to try & ambush him w/a tough question... the fact is he handled himself great & gave a great answer that pretty much p'wned the guy asking it.

I am not sure it makes him a bad person but it makes him speaking with Obama to be irrelevant. It's like those celebrities back in the 92 election telling kids to get out and vote to make a difference. The only problem is that weren't registered voters themselves. It's hard to take anything away from any issue if the other person isn't really motivated in the issue.
