I posted this in the OT forum but figured I would get more responses here.

I cant get through to these dam people at the unemployment agency. Anyway I was laid off last week and I want to file for unemployment because who knows how long it will take me to find another job. My question is I live in NJ but I worked in NY. Now do I file in NJ or NY?
Thanks

File in NY it has a higher rate. They may try to make you file in Jersey but unemployment is where you work not where you live.

Yeah you would file in NY. Its pretty easy on the website. You just need to make sure you go in and claim your money every week.

No. If you have a seasonal job you can file. Also entertainment occupations are allowed to file as well such actors, muscians and etc.
