Sen. Clinton or Sen. Schumer should immediately call for a vote of no confidence to challenge Sen. Reid Majority Leadership. Sen. Clinton should call Sen. Reid to task for not immediately removing Sen. Lieberman from his position of Chairman of Homeland Security. This man not only went back on his promise to not run in a general election if he ever loses the Democratic Party nomination back in 2006. Now this guy who not only campaign with Sen. McCain but went to the Republican Convention to attack the Democratic Party nominee for President. Sen. McCain who disagreed with Bush back in 2000 never would have notion to go the Democratic Convention to support Gore even if he felt that way. There is no place for understanding or compassion for this type of betrayal.
As an Indpendent who returned to the Democratic Party in 2004 (I still voted for Gore in 2000 but supported McCain in the 2000 campaign), I still find myself loathing Democrats for their lack of back bones when dealing with issues like this. If Reid is unable to step up to the plate to get rid of Lieberman than he should step aside and let Sen. Clinton do so as Majority Leader. Sen. Lieberman can still be offered a subcommittee but not a high position like Homeland Security.
This is not about partisan politics. It's about being able to trust those who ask for it. "Trust everybody, but cut the cards."
Your talking about 'Joe' Lieberman' right?
Well, it's not against the law to wanna support whoever you want to support. The only real crime here is that he went against a party that I thought he distanced himself from. I mean if he went Republican, then maybe he believes in their positions more than he agrees with the Democrats.
People have switched before and it won't be the last. I'm not so sure if it has a direct affect on interfering with 'homeland security' though.
It's one of those gray areas and hard to know what to say about it.
I think the important thing is, is that it's over with now. We can all put it all behind us and go on with the business of the important things that are happening right now. It's time to reach over to the other sides and say 'hey' I'd like to try to work this out. Can we talk'?
Let's stop hammering people anymore just because one's hair is green and the other is purple.

Unity is one thing but there must always be consequences to ones actions. Without consequences there would be no order. There are no gray areas sometimes. Without consequences heros would be meaningless, how can we reward ones bravery if there was nothing to be brave about. Criminals would go unpunish. He did what he did knowing these risk, I find it small of him to try to hide behind a banner of unity. What's next gamblers demanding back their money at the craps table when those dice come up snake eyes. He gambled and lost. No my friend, sometimes an example must be made and then everyone can break bread. Here this should help you understand 4949, think of Sen. Lieberman as Stephon Marbury. It's time to put him on the inactive list in his street clothes. You may still be in the caucus but you won't be see any playing time unless there is a severe injury.
