http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2008...This is outrageous. Does the MTA really expect me to believe they are that much in debt that they are cutting back service AND raising fares? The fuck is wrong with these morons? Meanwhile their CEOs make more than $100,000 a year and never ride the fucking train! Fuck the MTA and their fucking monopoly over the transit system. They need to be audited and the MTA really needs to be disbanded and have the transit system run by the government again. I am sick of this shit. I ride the W train and they are going to eliminate it altogether while raising the fare from 2 to $3. Fuck you MTA!
Not only that, the MTA had record surpluses in recent years. But they still wouldn't give a raise to their own employees forcing them to strike. Their books are a mystery to the public. The MTA is as corrupt an institution there is.
oohah
Rats already run rampant in the subway stations. Eventually they'll be crawling inside the dirty subway cars due to the cutbacks of the MTA. So essentially you'll be paying more to wait longer for your train/bus to arrive, then take a packed train/bus with rats running around to your destination. Rinse and repeat. Must be great to be the MTA. The worst part is nobody in our own corrupt government is doing anything to stop them.
I don't know how but the people need to stand up to them.....
I can tell you now that these mofo's are spending millions of dollars on high tech systems just to be able to track train crews and make sure people can get their lost duane reade bags....they have programs funded by the TA that go around following the musicians that perform in the system....they have stupid computer systems in place to tell people at bus stops the next bus is 5 minutes away when the schedule is already posted!!! I can run down the line....
then watch these mofo's again say...oh yeah we have a 900 million dollar surplus for a rainy day.....they already did it twice.
I don't understand how they get away with the stuff that they do. On top of that they try to turn the riding public on the workers. Stations are dark and filthy.....some should be condemned. the equipment doesnt work....every weekend and night they have all this contruction going down but nobody can visibly see what they are actually doing to improve anything. Theres no elevators!!!
Can we go on? yeah we can!....its a damn shame what goes down. Then Bloomberg is trying to pass blame and say well its on them and he's not touching it....but remember when his devil ass was claiming his congestion pricing plan? $8 dollars to get in manhatten? Fucking devil.
There is some major fuckery going down dude....
BTW....don't fall for the elimination the "W" train and the "Z" train....The N and the W basically go the same way.....the Q will probably replace what ever service the W was giving. As for the "Z"? its already a temporary train anyway and its just a cute way to say "J express"....ever ride the "j"? why in the hell does it need an express.
one more thing.....wasn't the mta just boasting how they were going to increase service? I know for a fact they have added some more runs. They just built the south ferry terminal....they are still looking to build a 2nd ave line and an extention to the 7 train.....
question how does any of the computer systems and line extentions, and music programs.....how does that improve service?
It makes me angry as all hell......NOBODY is sticking up for the people.....so if the fair goes up to $3....what's in place to stop them from going to $5 next year?....dude what happened to a .25 cent increase? a whole dollar?
Somethign must be done.
The surplus in recent years was only in the annual operating budget. The big problem is the capital budget, used for maintaining the system, which has been financed for years by borrowing, mainly due to the fact that Albany won't give sufficient funding to the MTA. Blaming the wrong people here folks.

How are we blaming the wrong people!!??? A couple of few years ago they did a study that 1 Million people take the subway a day one way, the fare was a dollar at the time so they were make 1 million dollars a day one way and still rise the fare. The blame is where it should be on the MTA!!!
I can't tell you how many times I had trouble getting money onto my card, out of those machines. GKFv2 is right. It's a monopoly.
