When it first came out, it was super-hyped, so I think it naturally let some people down. Maybe a lot of people, but not a huge let down, like a little let down.
So I picked it up again last week and started playing. I have so much more love for it now than on release. Hype killed it, but if you raelly go back and play it, get into it, dig it, you will find a masterpiece.
Hands down, the best game ever made on the PS3 thus far.
Any of you guys had a similar experience? How do you feel about GTA4?
How did hype kill it? How could it be any better than what it was? It was the best GTA to me. All GTA ever needed was graphics and it got that. Everything is was like the old GTA's except that they removed needless stuff like getting fat or whatever.
Hype killed it for me because at the time of drop I was expecting A WHOLE LOT. It came out, I played it a little, it went by. I had such high expectations that I don't think any game could've lived up to it. Either or, now that I've revisted, it's a beautiful thing. Without the hype I wouldn't have felt like this. But wow, what a game, man.
In short, sometimes you just have to wait a while after a hyped game to get its true meaning, feeling.
