Read this article on global warming. It's kind of urgent and sounds pretty vital to me. Apparently the caps are melting a lot faster then first thought.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081214/ap_o...Here's another piece of information. Top 10 things you can do to help curb global warming. One of them is to get this information out to as many people as you can. Post it on other boards and tell all of your family members, friends, associates, etc. and ask them to tell all of their family, etc. and so on and so on.
http://environment.about.com/od/globalwa...Me and my girlfriend have been recycling for the last ten years. We don't own a car and we don't burn a lot of fuel. One of the other things I do is I use environmentally friendly soaps to wash my clothes, dishes and hair. I wash all' of my clothes in cold water and they are just as clean as they would be washing in hot water. If you must was in hot, then at least reduce your temp to warm.
It wasn't hard to convert our old ways to the new. All you have to do is be conscious about it, by educating yourself. Once you have the knowledge, then you will have it on the back of your mind. I don't get paranoid about it, because I know I'm not the only one doing it. Recycling, and doing other things is a regular part of my life now. Join in.
There's so many things you can do to learn about it and learn how you can help to reduce the greenhouse affects. Just by searching on google and reading.
It's all right in front of you. The whole world of information. I can only tell you, but you can help by telling others.

I am 9 out of 10. But I am not giving up hot water.
global warming is that hippie ish. there are bigger concerns. global warming is also a myth; not that it's not warming, but the myth is that it's human caused.

Even if what you said is true, there is no denying that the effects of global warming will be disastrous. So why not try to help reduce it?
humans adapt.
it would make more sense to get ready for warmth than to try to stop it. it's a losing endeavor.

The myth is that when we pollute, put corporations first, and have people who share your mindset in political offices, that somehow it will fix itself.
Humans do adapt, and usually by not listening to people who deny science and reality.
it is not mand made. If it is occurring, check the stats, no warming since 1998, then the SUN has more to do with it. The SUN is currently in a very incative period, check the stats now....IT IS A MAN MADE MYTH.
as a general rule, be wary of anything as hyped and widely accepted as 'global warming'. without going into a huge debate on the science of it, suffice it to say that it deserves a closer look by everyone on this forum that takes the global warming crap at face value.
to call it a myth requires more thought and scientific understanding than to simply jump on the GO GREEN hippie bandwagon that they peddle you.
I actually read that temperatures having been trending downward for the last decade and last year was the lowest.
Additionally, maybe I'm missing something but why would melting ice cause seas to rise?

tell me this post is meant to be humorous.
I think it might have something to do with the chemical composition of ice.
It would rise as soon as you put the ice cube in. So it would not rise when it melts.
But there's more liquid water in the cup.
Is this really being debated?

Uh, has ice suddenly stopped floating in water? If it floats, part of it is above the water. Therefore, if it melts, the water level rises. You can deduce that without knowing anything about science. Additionally, a quantity of water has a higher volume than the equivalent amount of ice. Apparently, this has something to do with the ice being freshwater and the water being saltwater.

Right, all I meant was that the initial rise would occur as soon as you put the ice cube in the water.

So the ice in the glass goes from fresh to salt when it melts?

And all I meant was that the initial rise in water level would occur as soon as the ice cube is put in the glass.
http://www.seed.slb.com/qa2/FAQView.cfm?...Note that this argument applies only if the ice cube is made of the same water as the water that it is floating in. This is true, for example, with the Arctic ice pack, which is made of frozen sea water. However, it is not true for Antarctic icebergs, which are blocks of fresh-water ice from the continent that are floating in salt-water sea. In this case, we must take into account that the salt water is denser than the fresh water.
The fresh-water iceberg still weighs as much as the weight of the displaced salt water, but because of the difference in density, the volume of melted fresh water will be slightly greater than the displaced volume of salt water -- so when the iceberg melts, the water level will rise, although the difference is very small. Now let's get back to debating something that can be seen as debatable
