Get a load of this, bub!
GKFv2@ 12/17/2008 5:33 AM
Where is old school yellow costume? That's how I remember Wolverine.
TMS@ 12/17/2008 5:49 AM
interesting how they wrote Gambit into the Wolverine origin plot... i hope they do him justice & he fits in nicely into the storyline instead of being forced into it cuz he's 1 of my alltime favorite X-Men characters.
firefly@ 12/17/2008 6:26 AM
I am soooooo frickin excited for this!!!
I am a total x-men head. Wolverine is obviously my favourite character (outside of the original comic-book Rogue mmmmmmmmm)I cant wait to see how they fill out his backstory. Nick Fury? Deadpool?
Interstingly, in the original comicbooks, I believe the secret military experiments done on Logan were Canadian. Maybe that was too much to believe, even in a Marvel/Hollywood movie.
TMS@ 12/17/2008 6:45 AM
yeah, Wolverine was originally referred to as "Weapon X" by the Canadian secret supersoldier project... i think he came out in an issue of the Hulk before showing up in the 1st issue of the second generation of X-Men characters.
i wonder if they're gonna incorporate the whole Japanese storyline w/the White Queen, Silver Samurai, his wife & his son into this movie at all? that all was supposed to happen before he ended up being recruited into the Weapon X program in Canada.
firefly@ 12/17/2008 6:56 AM
Ha! There was a sidestory in an annual if I remember correctly about some samurai and Wolverine had cut his finger off and promised to come back for the rest on his birthday. Day comes, the guy surrounds himself with like a thousand ninjas and......... you know the rest.
There are waaaay to many Wolverine narratives to get into a movie. They will prolly just go with the original military project, why/how he was in it, childhood trauma (judging from the trailer) and of course, this being Wolverine the bloody revenge that ensues.
TMS@ 12/17/2008 7:30 AM
i just wanna see some hot Asian chicks so i'm hoping they'll incorporate the Japanese storyline in there somewhere.

I really really hope they do something with the dark phoenix saga. Fans of the Xmen of the late 70s-80s know the story well. You can pick it up in graphic novel form in many bookstores. IMO its the best comic book story of all time.. a massive epic with intergalactic ramifications.
Ok.. back to the basement. Moms yelling at me to clean my room
Elite@ 12/17/2008 9:31 AM
one word. Gambit!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Knicksfan@ 12/17/2008 10:51 AM
It looks good, but most trailers do. When you end up watching the film you see all the action was in the trailer and the plot you imagined by watching it was more interesting that the one they wrote for the movie. Hopefully, this wont be the case.
They had to do something with the X-Men after the X-3 fiasco. That movie was in trouble the moment Bryan Singer took Superman instead. Fox always hurries their films no matter if it could hurt the product and that definitely happened with X-3. It may still be enjoyable to many people, but the running time of 90 minutes, the terrible use of the Phoenix storyline and the introduction of the cure only to miss the many interesting things that could've happened with it made it one of the worst comic book films recently done. And since the genre has gone so high in quality, that was no good.
But now Marvel has the rights to the story and they sure know how to do business. The elements that are unifying their films in anticipation of an Avengers film is really amazing. Only they could've pulled it out, since DC is only famous for Batman, Superman and to some extent Wonder Woman. They are making the right moves to make it happen and I sure hope they can get Spider-Man into the Avengers storyline they are making.
Just hope that once they finish their many X-Men Origins projects, they go back to the X-Men franchise and do another film, preferably ignoring what happened in X-3. It has been done before and it would help the franchise if they did it now.

Wolverine's origin was a mistery to wolverine up until reciently. Alot of his memory was lies implanted into his head.....From the trailer they seemed to show silver Fox and Woverine holding her dead body surrounded by a totally destroyed cabin in the snow...that little scene looked perfect. They then showed her right after in a serious face with what looks to be a costume.....so it looks like they will touch on that fact.....the confusion within Logan to what is real and whats not.....
All I know is it better be bloody and Sabertooth and wolverine better have the comic book fight of the century!!! I love how they casted Liev Schreiber to be Wolverine...he's one of my favorite actors. He plays the best psycho's.
after a google search...looks like ryan renolds is gonna be deadpool.....if thats not perfect i dunno what is. ryan renolds is a totally funny motherfucker thats great with sarcastic humor. He's great with action movies as well. nice choice.
I'm a little worried about Gambit's story line.....I actually have the issue of Uncanny X-men where Gambit makes his first appearance....hope they don't make it seem like Gambit is a major part in wolvie's origin.
I cant wait....the movie needs to be bloody though....hope its not watered down for children. it needs to be gangster'ed up like the Punisher.

I agree....but same goes for Spidermans movies....they all were trash. but they did 3 of them. it's gonna be hard to tell people to forget them. wish they all were written and casted as well as they are doing it now. shame cuz Spidey is their flagship charecter, while the X-men are their most famous super team.

I know, man. Im a huge Spider-Man fan and you can guess how displeased I was with the last movie, especially because, as happened with X-3, they mishandled story lines that could've been simply amazing. There are many people that hate Venom, but must love him. And simply the fact that you have to deal with the darkness corrupting a hero is an amazing story to develop. Having that darkness later materializing and confronting you with almost your same persona is another amazing story line. Yet they treated Venom, and even the Harry-Globin thing, like trash. It could've been an amazing movie, but they missed badly.
I think that Spidey 1 was ok since it was the obligated origin story, establishing characters and it was the first of the franchise. The second one, at least for me, was almost perfect. The development of Doc Ock was very well done. The action sequence in the train and its ending was one of the best in cinema history, which is saying a lot. It had many imperfections, but overall the movie was really good and many called it the blueprint of superhero movies. But coming from the two with a flop in Spidey 3 was really bad. You could see it coming with such an aggressive add campaign with the dark suit starring it only to last like 20 minutes of the movie.
The dark suit saga, as with Dark Phoenix, could've had its own movie. Venom too. Instead they got all together thinking only about the money and in the end the movie flopped.
The thing is that they won't wait a lot for the next one to come, and it won't be re-cast. Even Sam Raimi, director of the trilogy, is back. So it depends on the script right now. I don't see how they can pick up the franchise and return it to its glory after the debacle of #3, but Im sure rooting for them.

geek talk? hey, you can't have geek talk without jazz74 joining the party! first, i agree with elite in saying: GAMBIT!! about time my boy join the fray and he looks like he is going to kick butt according to the trailer. the trailer does look good but so did x3 and look what we ended up with. ryan reynolds as deadpool is spot on and better than him being hannibal king and ruining the blade franchise. he may actually save this one. i think i saw emma frost in the trailer, did i not? the hot chick that turned into something, i think diamond. the blob looked authentic also. but i like leiv as sabertooth. he really looks primal though i thought he would have been too pretty for the role. they said that this one will follow closely to his weapon x days. if they did a sequel then they will venture into the frank miller stories of logan's samuri past. it should be a hit, probably one of the biggest next year, so i think a sequel is imminent. though they said that they will release a magneto film first.

hey, you know as well as i do that they want to target this for the kids. it will be pg-13 and it won't be bloody. in a perfect world, it should. however, that doesn't mean that it can't be dark and disturbing. i think dark knight and even x2 accomplished that. however, we are not going to see heads shot off like in the punisher. yeah, and there is NO excuse for the fight scene between logan and sabertooth not to be one of the best in cinema. i thought they had a stellar fight scene with logan and deathstrike in x2. now with more wolverine facetime, they could easily expand on that.

X-Men Origins: Magneto Officially on Hold
15 December 2008 4:22 AM, PST | From Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news
May 1, 2009, will be a big day for the X-Men franchise. The premiere of X-Men Origins: Wolverine will now officially be the prognosticator for any future X-Men movies. With a script by director David Goyer that the studio is very pleased with, plans to make the Magneto are on hold until the success of Wolverine, or lack thereof, can be assessed. Goyer is already moving on to direct The Invisible Man next -- a potential conflict with Magneto -- should a decision be made to move forward with it.

I guess I am more oldschool than you guys but how can you have a Wolverine origin movie and not include Captain America, the Sub-Mariner and the rest of the Invaders? What no Alpha Flight, the team that first recruited him and he was going to lead (The Guardian says hi)?

That's what's crazy about Wolverine.....his past is tremendous.....like I said he only reciently as this year found out his true history after the whole house of M fiasco.
Also take into account that the dude is really like 80 years old cuz of his healing factor. He's a well written charecter. The original writers from Marvels beginings especially Stan Lee and Ditko.....those guys are and were supreme story tellers. They should get that recognition...especially stan lee while their still alive. The dude is like a real life shakespeare. Genius!

they already did the Dark Phoenix saga in XMen 3 bro... they made a mess of it but anyways... they made a total mess of the Morlocks saga too IMO... Callisto shoulda been a much bigger part of the movie & coulda been so much cooler than they made her out to be.
