Here in Austria, I just bought Killzone 2.

It is incredible. Does anyone else have this masterpiece of gaming entertainment? Let us discuss the single player campaign. I just defeated the mechanical bird on the roof of the building. It was frustrating.

Has anyone beat the entire game? How long did it take you? On what difficulty?

Question: My 12 year old curretnly plays COD and Metal Gear Solid 4 and wants to buy Killzone 2. Is this game similar to COD and Metal Gear Solid 4 in profanity? Does it have any adult themes similar to Grand Theft Auto?

Answer: Killzone 2 is a first person shooter (FPS) like Call of Duty. I am halfway through the campaign, and I don't remember hearing any cuss words. But I would not be surprised if one or two 's-words' or 'f-words' were to spring up here and there. No adult themes a la Grand Theft, BUT-- there is A LOT of blood. And I mean a lot.

Now, let me give you a little background on the campaign. You are Sev, a soldier in the human army invading a far away planet. The inhabitants of this planet are not fully human; they diverged from their human cousins many generations ago after colonizing the planet Helghast. So, it's really Helghast blood that is spilling, not human, if that makes any difference.

In conclusion, if your little guy is playing war games like CoD and Metal Gear, Killzone 2 wouldn't be that much of a stretch in terms of violence. But, again, the only thing that seems to set Killzone apart from the other 2 is the enormous amount of blood, just blood, all over the place, man.

EDIT: Also, the name is much more violent than Call of Duty or Metal Gear...it implies a..kill zone..with killing.

well aren't COD and MGS4 rated M as well?

if I had a 12 yr old, I would let him play MGS4, maybe COD but KillZone 2?

I don't know, probably not.

KZ2 is pretty realistic in terms of how you shoot someone (ragdoll + blood very well done) but the settings are pretty Science Fiction which may be if compared to COD and MGS 4 is less recognizable violence.

^I hear you. I watched him play COD and this game is nothing he has not seen in TV right now, it is nothing he has not seen. Same with MGS4. Killzone I think I will not let him play.

I play PS3. I cant imagine an FPS/3rdPS being better then MGS4. Am I wrong?

Right now, I would prefer to play that mastepiece again then buy another game. Ive already played all the COD's and they are good, but MGS4 is seriously the only game ive ever played thats worth the 10/10 given by http://www.gamespot.com

MGS4 is a great game, indeed, but the multiplayer is not much fun. MGS4 could be the best single player game, no doubt. For multiplayer, CoD takes the cake.
