As long as both partners share love for eachother and share similar values (Face it, it would be a hell of a rocky marriage if you had different values) and realize they can spend the rest of their lives together with peace and respect, then it's fine.

I think racism bothers me more than anything else. Top 3 to say the least. It's at least right there with bad parenting.

I agree with you about the racism thing. Although the form on Action Jackson's jumper bothers me as well.

youre so poetic sometimes......posting at 1:30am again huh?

what he meant to say was, ". . . . any girl allanfan'd enough to actually accept my marriage proposal is fine by me, regardless of age, nationality, race, basketball IQ, criminal record, psychiatric diagnosis, number of limbs intact, actual gender, etc, etc, etc . . . .
Solace @ 4/14/2009 12:14 PM
That's pretty crazy. It's hard to fathom that so many would disapprove.

Damn right. I marry chicks left and right. Immigrant chicks that is. I was born to give away citizenships, no matter how qualified you are, or how ugly you are.

sebby, you read A Peoples' History of the United States?

I havent read the whole book, but specific chapters have been used as reference material in both my political science and Africana Studies courses. Material like that is easily marginalized as anti-American, pessimistic, or myopic but I feel it offers a more balanced view and explains that the seeds of division, that we see today, were planted through imperialistic and greedy hands bent on domination through divide and conquer strategies. Should see more of it in high school curriculum to promote critical thought.

Of course. Race is just a sociological and political construct used to divide and pit one group against another. The only real difference between Black, White, Hispanic is pigmentation. What is the origin of the original man, again?

Through greed, exploitation, human cruelty and ignorance we have allowed race to envelop the human psyche to the point where we really believe we somehow have these vast biological differences which justifies beliefs and treatment.

Great post

Yeah, it is a very good post indeed.

Good looks, guys.

Yeah, its so sad to see people roped in by stuff like the "Bell Curve" book. Manipulation at its very best.

how about interspecies marriage?

I'd recommend the whole thing... the main criticism is the book assumes malicious intent by the powers to be. Having said that, its aim is to do the previously undone: tell the untold story.

I figured you'd read at least some after that post. And I agree with you that it should be in secondary education. I personally think it should be required reading. It's an eye opener, for certain. I imagine I would have challenged my interaction with the world had I been thinking in those terms at 17 or 18

Man, I love interracial marriage! The more mixes the more beautiful the resulting lady baby is. Yay!

good god man. you haven't gotten over that goat? move on. she has.
nykshaknbake @ 4/19/2009 11:38 AM
I don't think there's a reason to be against it. There's alot of old thinking though that can make it difficult between families.
Bonn1997 @ 4/19/2009 11:48 AM
So whose the one who voted against it?
orangeblobman @ 4/19/2009 11:54 AM
Is it ethical to design a poll, have people vote, and then seek out who voted for what? That goes against the very foundations of this country.

So you admit to it?

By what code of ethics?
By my code, yes, it's ethical, and it's also ethical for the person to refuse to reply (although I would view that as cowardly).
orangeblobman @ 4/19/2009 12:52 PM
Do you bring this mindset to the classroom? You actually 'teach' students?
bitty41 @ 4/19/2009 1:01 PM
Hmmmmm I wonder who the one person is that doesn't approve of interracial marriage is?

Bonn1997 @ 4/19/2009 1:02 PM
Yes, I view it as OK if a student does or does not want to reply to my questions.

Is it ethical to wonder how someone else voted?
