Off Topic · Is it bad to use two anti-virus programs? (page 1)

I've been using AVG because it seemed to get good reviews. However, my internet is working slowly again. I remember one poster here recommended using CCleaner. That did indeed speed things up. But I uninstalled it from my computer a while ago because I read that you shouldn't have two anti-virus programs.

having two Antivirus programs can bog down the system when it does it's daily checks. I feel CCleaner is all you need with some added spyware, malware etc software. I think two antivirus programs is overkill.

ccleaner isnt an antivirus program if i remember correctly - AVG is good, you should be able to use ccleaner with it with no ill effects - ccleaner is just a reg cleaner isnt it?

If you computer is slow consider getting an external drive and putting all your files on it, formatting your computer, and re-installing windows. It will do wonders for you.

Also remember to defrag (I do it once a week even if I dont need it).

CCleaner isn't an antivirus program, it's a hard drive cleaner that deletes all the garbage excess that accumulates on your system.

forget AVG & download Avast, it's the best Antivirus program i've ever used out of the ones i've already tried (McAfee, Norton & AVG)... completely install & forget kind of program, it'll scan every file that downloads onto your system automatically & warn you if any file is suspicious or tries to go someplace it's not supposed to go & give u options to fix the problem... it'll also update automatically every day so you never have to run a software or virus definitions update manually... awesome program & completely free.

I have used Defender, free program from Microsoft. Seems good.
