OK. I bought a new scale today. I weighed myself and I'm 259 lbs. This is THE scale I'll be using from this point foward.
Total official weight loss so far: 17.5 lbs.

Thanks a lot bro. I've been doing purely cardio, which I know has to change soon, and I also know I'm going to have to change my routine as well.
I go to the gym 5 days a week and do 3 things, currently. I do 30 minutes on the elyptical, going what I think is fast at least. I do 15 minutes walking on the treadmill on a nice incline. I also just got up to 14 minutes on the stairmaster and go kind of fast the last 4 minutes. Those last 4 minutes are intense as hell, but I love doing it. I'm going to have to do things a little different though, because I've been doing that for a whole month now.
I also need to start doing some outside stuff too. On Saturday, a friend and I had a catch with something called a Xylo. You throw it and it goes real far and it's unpredicable, so you have to sprint and go after it. That was a great workout and I'm still feeling it. I am going to try and get him to come out and do it again tonight.
I would love to see if I can get down to 200 lbs. Like I said though, I know I'm going to have to do the weight lifting sooner than later, so if that keeps me from reaching 200, so be it. That was my high school weight though.
Allanfan20@ 6/29/2009 4:29 PM
Thanks Bonn. The job isn't nearly done though. Didn't you know by all of the UK get together pics? I am LeBron!!!
Allanfan20@ 6/29/2009 4:30 PM
This is a youtube of the Xylo I was talking about though. We can't throw nearly as well as they show in the video, but we still do pretty well.

allanfan, you're being a girl about all this. just remember that wings and suds are the basic building blocks of a happy and fulfilled life and stop watching so much oxygen and lifetime tv.
you're welcome.
lol. I'm with Marv on this one.
got some playoffs in my vball league tonight. Suds and wings always follow, which means I am following a very strict marv diet.

I think most of what you're doing is right. If you're enjoying what you're doing I stay stick with it and focus on improving your times in the short term. I'd say make sure you stretch... when you wake up and before and after your cardio. That'll keep you lookin sexy. Keep improving with the cardio but don't get too comfortable with that because strength training is important, but it isn't the only option available. What you eat is probably more important than lifting for your weight loss goals... I'm not big on the whole counting calories thing. Just figure out how much food is 2500 calories and try to stick near that without being anal about it. Pay attention to the labels if you eat a lot of food product (shit that's wrapped and made by a scientist) and less if it's actually food, like homemade roasted chicken and green beans. Look to eat nutrient dense foods too... meaning more vitamins and minerals per calorie. To actually get into lifting I would suggest training for something. For example I started getting into kayaking so I do more pullups, situps, and explosive movements than before but I work hard so I can stay in the river longer.

Still 259 lbs. I had a great week all week. Went to the gym on Saturday. Had a great workout. Then I played some one on one bball after that. 4th of July BBQing/drinking/beer pong will do that to you. Was way too hungover yesterday to get to the gym. It's back to work today though.
I must say, it was a kick ass night though. Hope everyone else here can say the same.

That's great! Really great. Sometimes people get so obsessed with weight loss they stop living and are totally consumed by the scale. The goal should be modifying lifestyle so that your weight loss is sustainable. Too often people totally completely restrict themselves and end up quitting once the mental burden becomes to great. That usually happens after they refuse brews and burgers on the 4th or only eat green beans on Thanksgiving.
Allanfan20@ 7/6/2009 4:48 PM
LOL Thanks.
You could have shot me in the head and even that wouldn't have stopped me from enjoying my 4th of July.
The bad part about it is I feel very tired and lazy today, but that's ending tonight. Having a X-Zylo catch and then going to the gym. I think I'm going to change my routine a little though this week. I'm going to start doing wind sprints.

Dont even think about trying to challenge me at beer pong. I take that game seriously and I will break you, Rocky part 4 style.

251 lbs now. I guess big weeks come, just as there are weeks when you don't lose a single thing, albeit it was b/c of 4th of July.
I am feeling more athletic though. I'm running faster and I feel a little quicker. Hopefully that's the actual reality and not only what I'm feeling.
Bonn1997@ 7/13/2009 1:32 PM
So you've lost about 25 lbs? Congrats!
I'm bummed out that I've had a shoulder injury and can't play basketball. I've taken 10 days off but it's still sore. The physical therapist said it's just a muscle strain. I think back when I was 20, it would have healed by now. Things do heal slower when you're in your 30s!

Thanks. I'm about a third of the way through.
Just feel lucky that you didn't sprain your ankle 500 times in high school to about the age of 22 or so, the way I did. I still feel that to this day. Fun times.

I had lots of ankle sprains (and one hairline fracture) until I started wearing good ankle braces. Haven't had any ankle problems since then. Never had knee problems. I'm lucky with that, although it's probably at least partly due to the fact that I'm fairly lean and I'm not putting a lot of stress on my knees.
Allanfan20@ 7/20/2009 9:22 AM
247 lbs.
Glad to hear you're not having ankle problems anymore.

Every time you update the number becomes more and more impressive and continuously sustainable... good job
Allanfan20@ 7/20/2009 11:55 AM
Thanks. I have a ways to go though. I also had to make some adjustments. I have to really really minimize what I eat at night now. Last week, I weighed myself every morning just to see what's going on. For a few nights earlier in the week, I had carbs at night, and I ended up gaining a little weight from it, so I stopped that, and ended up getting back on track.
That's going to be my next adjustment. Just watching my carbs. I'm certainly not going to to do no carbs. I need to keep the carb count a little lower though. And probably no carbs at night.

Carbs fuel your mind... so my advice is to eat the majority of your carbs in the morning, some at lunch, and very little at dinner. You'll lose more weight by cutting the carbs completely out, but when you inevitably break that diet you'll gain the weight back and then some.
