I watched this clip on truTV's "Smoking Gun Presents World's Dumbest" show (watch when you get a chance, it's a fantastic series) and I immediately tried to find the uncensored version (since those make a great clip better).
This clip is from back in '87 and this Ned Flanders looking police officer gets pretty much emasculated by this drunk woman who was still somehow sharp mentally. Enjoy.

haha..
I caught some of this stuff tonight, its pretty funny.
I feel kinda bad turning this into something serious, but heres what I dont get.
Everyone gets very upset when the cops go too far, and end up hurting someone. Rightfully so, cuz their job is to keep the peace. So a vid shows up of a cop beating someone, and the universe goes nuts. Fire him. Kill him. Disband the police. etc. etc.
This guy does a great job under considerable provocation. He coulda done it in a more aggressive manner and chose not to. And what, you laugh at him?! No appreciation for the great job he did?
I say Officer Flanders gets a medal, not a place on 100 dumbest. Sheesh.
firefly, i agree this cop showed amazing restraint & deserves props... but this clip was being filmed as some kinda demonstration of some sort so u don't know how he would have handled the situation in real life... a knee to the cop's groin would have gotten her faceplanted into the ground & handcuffed & dragged away to jail right then & there, u gotta assume that much... & the cops would have been within their rights to do that... to relate this video to the one i posted where the teen girl got her head smashed in for flicking her shoe at a cop is not even close to being reasonable.

I agree, firefly. At least some on the board have sense and intelligence.

Sorry it took so long for the response TMS, weird weekend.
Im not sure how you know that this was some kind of demo. Granted the cop is very aware he is being filmed, but that could also be seen as a sign of his professionalism.
Regardless, I disagree that relating this to the original cop vid is unreasonable. Quite the reverse, the cases are remarkably similar. In both the cop received provocation from an obviously physically overpowered woman. In the first vid the cop receives much less provocation and still behaves like an animal. In the second, the cop receives far more provocation from the woman and yet still acts in a calm professional manner. The cases SHOULD be realated! We should be holding Flanders up on our shoulders and saying "See, this is how a cop should behave. Dont go down to the level of the idiots who accost you and show them what being a cop SHOULD be about".
Vid number 2 should have been the outcome in vid number 1. Thats why they are related and this guy should be lauded by all for his restraint.

Good post, Firefly, I agree.

No you dont get it, because you saw nothing wrong with the first video...the one where the two cops brutally assaulted a female teenage for no good reason.
At the very least firefly acknowledged that the first cop acted like an animal and wasnt even provoked.

No, firefly said he was provoked in both vids and praised the cops in the second video...
I disagree with him though on one thing. The cop KNEW he was on camera. In my mind, people are going to act at least a little differently.
I didn't see the first video though. Was this the same cop?

I get that the knowledge of the camera takes away from the cops response a little, but still, the guy should get credit. He may have known there was a cam, but the cop in the first vid probably also did although I reckon he forgot at that moment. Besides, we see enough footage of police going OTT on police-cams so regardless, I reckon the guy gets props.
My main point was that we should certainly not be laughing at the guy for doing a thoroughly professional job.
BTW, I wrote that the cop in the first vid was provoked only because TMS mentioned that the girl threw a shoe. Obviously not much provocation and she would have had to throw a grenade to get the response she did but it was provocation. Just so I dont get missunderstood I am in no way condoning what the first cop did and the guy should rightly be censured, fired etc.

other than the fact the cop was holding a microphone & playing up to the camera & the lights, it didn't look like a filmed demo at all... i'm not saying the woman was an actress, & like i said the cop should be praised for the restraint he showed, but ur kidding urself if that woman gets the same treatment if the lights & camera are not on those 2 cops.
