And now an improbable save by Howard!
GKFv2 @ 6/28/2009 3:50 PM
You guys should watch the World Cup next summer. It will be much more exciting.
kam77 @ 6/28/2009 3:51 PM
That was a goal according to the UNIVISION broadcast. That was a lucky break for the US

Obviously, but this is easily the most exciting USA match that I've ever seen.

ESPN replay looked like it was in too

Howard truly outstanding in this game
VDesai @ 6/28/2009 4:03 PM
Brazil just too good at this point
VDesai @ 6/28/2009 4:13 PM
And Brazil takes the lead now. Unreal.
GKFv2 @ 6/28/2009 4:14 PM
USA choked.

USA choked.

Defense was bad in the 2nd half- played pretty worn out. Brazil had a lot of good chances in the first half despite the 2-0 lead by USA
loweyecue @ 6/28/2009 4:25 PM
The US is not yet very good at playing ball posession football. They should keep the ball more when u by two, they weren't doing that.

Brazil produces enormous amounts of great players, they are always in the thick of thing as far as soccer is concerned. USA's best player wouldn't even make the bench of the Brazilian team. No disrespect of course, Brazil is that good

The US team will always lose until there are some set plays on offense. The defense is gritty but wtf, the offense totally depends on mistakes on the other side!

The US team did good though. They just ran into a team with way too much talent. Kaka controls the game and Robinho is the complete package. And Pato didn't play a single minute! This kid might be replacing Cristiano Ronaldo in Man U and didnt play a minute!

tough loss...

i can't believe i missed the first half.

brasil is just too good.

they pretty much dominated the 2nd half
PresIke @ 6/28/2009 4:29 PM
the subs were also questionable.

it bothers me that the reporting on the team is just not done on a big level with espn, etc.

like...

why is adu on the bench, who i happen to like for his being creative with the ball/good passer, and we bring in some other lesser players after the game was tied?

why is beasley on the bench too?

he's one of our best players!?
orangeblobman @ 6/28/2009 4:31 PM
Can someone tell me if Brazil dressed their real, full, first-squad or did they send some makeshift ensemble?

If it WAS the real Brazil, the one they would send to the World Cup, then kudos to team USA. But until this is verified I don't know how much we can take from this victory.
PresIke @ 6/28/2009 4:31 PM
howard was huge, seeing the highlights from the 1st half. he had a nice save or two in the 2nd half too.

the 2nd goal was awesome.

brasil had not given up a single goal in the entire tournament, and that was the US's first 2-0 lead on them EVER.
PresIke @ 6/28/2009 4:33 PM
brasil had their real squad, for the most part.

1 Julio César (G)
14 Luizao (D)
2 Maicon (D)
16 André Santos (D)
3 Lúcio (D)
8 Gilberto Silva (M)
10 Kaká (M)
18 Ramires (M)
5 Felipe Melo (M)
9 Luis Fabiano (F)
11 Robinho

Ronaldinho is not playing because Fabiano is not exactly a crap player by any means. the guy scored 24 goals two seasons ago.

spain ran their main squad too.

but even the us didn't have all of their best players on the pitch, imho.

i think we've impressed a few folks a bit more through this tournament.

this is a minor event, but teams use this to prepare themselves for the world cup which is held in the same nation, and is only 1 year away. it's the last time they get to really play against other international teams outside their qualifying regions (other than the Gold Cup, which is not as important, from what i always gather).

Nice. Alright then, so this is a substantial step. But now we need a good showing in 2010. This is not enough.

Tim Howard just announced as the winner of most outstanding goal keeper in the tournament.

Clint Dempsy announced 3rd most outstanding player in the tournament too.

Fabiano 2nd, Kaka 1st.

but the US team looks disappointed.
