no public option signed into law by president obama no democratic majority-- the dem party will be as fractured (as the gop party is now) if in this historic time when dems have a supermajority they still fail to lead.
couldnt agree more. They've got everything they have asked the American people for as far as senate, house, and executive control. If they bitch up again for what might be the most important piece of legislation in our lifetimes, Im through with these clowns. No excuses.
ITs time they grow a pair and do what needs to be done, rather than cowering to the notions of bi-partisanship and what right-wing commentators might accuse them of.
There wont be a public option because the public doesnt want it. Democracy at its finest

too much Fox "News"? Every poll I've seen has 55 to 70% of Americans supporting the public option. Plus the AMA and 70% of physicians support it. The only people not supporting the public option are (a) politicians, including many Democrats, who have sold out to insurance lobbyists, (b) other elites (e.g., insurance company CEOs) who stand a lot to gain from the current system, and (c) uninformed people who probably don't even know what the World Health Organization is let alone know about its or any other objective source's ratings of the quality of health care different countries have.
"No public option" doesn't simply mean "no democratic majority"; it means there is "no Democratic party"! They're just corporate sellouts who arbitrarily have "D"s instead of "R"s next to their names. I think there will be a weak public option that helps some people but has no impact (neither positive nor negative) on 95 to 99% of Americans.

democracy is one man one vote. dems ran on heathcare for all and the voters gave them the power to lead to make it happen. thats democracy at its finest.
*Politico-- "Max Baucus was apoplectic when Reid told him he wanted to include the public option, Baucus went to DEFCON 1, said a source familiar with the negotiations." now mind you that just means the months max spent negotiating a healthcare bill was b.s. he was just buying time to let the insurance lobbies launch that blitz on the public option. why does this senator still have a chairmanship? if the public option isnt in effect by 2010. yes i said 2010. its a wrap for the dems no one will ever vote for them to lead again.
Moveon's 5 million members voted overwhelmingly not to support financially any Dems who fillibuster the bill. Sadly, I think the insurance companies have more financial leverage than Moveon does.
man, i love a good fillibuster
Yeah but this is a non-democratic, purchased fillibuster. To love this is basically to say you hate democracy
i just love the democrats, so if they're fillibustering it's gotta be good, and i love democracy, so.
You're just a loving guy!

coolbeans, go on Yahoo fantasy. I offered you a trade. Do it. Do it.
It doesn't matter who is in charge in the end whatever sucks in your life will continue to suck. That won't change until YOU are the person in charge. And...well, that's not happening.
Politics is the most useless thing that any average citizen tries to get involved in be it voting or debating it. Nothing is changing for you. That's a simple fact. That's why I don't vote (and, well, with that...no jury duty comes my way) and I don't debate it (cause it simply does not matter one bit who is in charge - if you're broke, you'll still be broke. If you're angry, you'll still be angry. No politician will change that from your local mayor to the president of the USA.)
Wow, I'm gonna have to disagree with that! I do believe if Al Gore had been in office, we wouldn't have just lost 4000 Americans in Iraq and tens if not hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians. It was only a few decades ago that the Supreme Court (whose members are determined by politicians) ended school segregation!

You're just trying to rationalize your lack of political engagement. Nothing could be further from the truth. Bonn touched on just a couple of examples

Correct and so is Bonn. The Politicians may act lazy or like scumbags at times, but our society hangs onto the decisions they make, whether we like it or not, just as we need the CEOs of the world, so all of the businesses we need can be run properly.
We may not agree with them, but without them, America would crumble before our own eyes.
