If there was no micheal jordan, we wouldn't have him to compare lebron and kobe to, but these great talents would have arisen nevertheless. Influenced by other things, sure, but great indeed, no doubt about it.

Lebrons second favorite player is Dr.J and he's changing his number to 6 in honor of him. Lebron happens regardless.

I agree, but then what are we to make of LBJ's statement:

"I just think what Michael Jordan has done for the game has to be recognized some way soon," James said. "There would be no LeBron James, no Kobe Bryant, no Dwyane Wade if there wasn't Michael Jordan first."

he's paying homage cause he's a cool dude respecting another cool dude. If there was no Larry Bird, would there be a Danillo Gallinari? LOL!

He is being a phoney though. "I just think what Michael Jordan has done for the game has to be recognized some way soon,"

Does LeBron feel that dissing the NBA Hall of Fame is smart? They just inducted your boy into the HOF, that's not enough recognition? Now we all have to deify the man??

If the Knicks ever retire #23 it will be because Toney Douglas wore it. I would stop following the Knicks if i saw Jordan's jersey in the rafters like they did in Miami.

The Hall of Fame is not the NBA's in the slightest, hence the women and college players inducted... he is tchnically correct, in that the only thing the NBA has done is retire his number in two cities.

We are to make of it what it is-- a dumb statement by an athlete. That's why they play b-ball instead of writing books on philosophy, or something.
