There is one thing that can help us right now and thats it. MDA's loyalty to Dunhon is what it is, and thats not going away. Carmello said the other night the stars in the league still look at MDA as an elite coach. Maybe there is something to that, maybe there isnt..
Nate is not a good bench player. He's not mature enough. He's not a good crowd energizer. He's not mature enough. I know this thinking may sound backwards but he's much better over 35-38 minutes than he is over 25. He's got to pace himself and play smarter and when he's been given heavy minutes he's done that.
He's our best player. Plain and simple.

Duhon was the main guy not passing to Gallo, not Nate. If you look at many of Gallo highlights last year and this year many of his passes are from Nate. Breen and Walt were even pointing that out last game.

I agree. I have been saying that Nate needs to start over Duhon since last season. Duhon can only run the offensive at one speed, and that is slow. Nate can play effectively in the halfcourt and the run and gun style of play.

totally serious. I have watched these games. He sits on the perimeter and does nothing. There are no screens for him, no pick and rolls, no post ups. He stand out beyond the arc and either shoots a 3 or swing the ball around.
He's taken 169 shots this year. 110 of the them have been 3s.
If Gallo takes fewer shots than the other Knicks its because he only takes good ones. He doesnt shoot contested 3's like the rest of the team. He passes

I must be seeing something different then, because every time I watch the game, Lil Nate has been ignoring Gallo. The only player I see looking out for Gallo is No D Lee.

Good point on shot selection by Gallo, but if you watch closely on transition plays, Gallo would set himself up nicely on either side waiting for a pass from Nate or any other player and it never comes. If they pass to him and continue to cut to the basket, I guarantee that Gallo will hit them with a pass for an easy layup because the defenders would have to come out to contest the shot.
I agree that Gallo sets up camp on the perimeter, but I think this is by design from the coaching staff. Last game he was actually moving around and was open a lot but they could not give him the ball. Why is that? If you have Gallo on a high post, ala Dirk Diggler, he can make things happen. When Lewis was all up on his jockstrap after hitting those 3s, I was expecting the PG to go back to Gallo and let him create. He would have gotten Lewis in foul trouble. Gallo has shown the ability to get to the line, but I think he has been taught by his Dad who was a respected professional player in Europe to always do what the coaches tell you. Hence, Gallo does not demand the ball.
I dont know what the Gallo issue is a result of. This is a team of bad shot takers. There isnt a lot of passing either. Gallo has been more active (2 blocks last night) on both ends of the court and I think that will just come with time. He never forces anything. I think this is an OK thing.
I really dont see an issue with Gallo. I think he's progressing well. He's been great from downtown, more and more active on defense every game and for whats essentially his rookie season after a back operation he's coming along just fine.
Nate is the only guy on this team that creates easy shots for himself or others, and thats why I think he should start.
Those high picks he was scoring off of in the 4th qtr last night will always be there. He can feast off that 15-18 footer all night. If they switch he can beat the big off the dribble and make that one pass no problem.
He had some triple double type games last year when Duhon was out. Is there a downside to him putting up big #s?

Gallo just flat gets ignored. The hits two 3's and you'd think the other players would start looking for him? You'd think someone would say oh Gallo's feelin it let's keep feeding him for a while! NO! He doesn't have teammates, just a bunch of selfish and jealous clowns! The best shooter on the team and you tell me no one can stand up and look out for the kid and say HEY! Pass Gallo the freaking ball! Let's run a few plays thru Gallo!

I like what Hughes is doing this year. His shot will always suck but his D is spot on.
I don't think you can just say that Nate is plain better than Duhon/Hughes. Duhon obviously has his issues but Nate's D SUCKS.

Nate isn't a problem. Lee's contract would be cuz he'd demand so much. I'd have no problem with Nate on the roster in 2010. Nate is a great value even now.

There really isn't an argument on who is better. Lil Nate has superstar talent but punk like attitude. I love how Breen and Clyde went off on Nate when he styling and profiling after hitting a 3 when they were down double digits.
Nate should start only if he will actually involve everybody and not just looking out for himself. His actions are not starter material. If he does not change his approach then his ceiling in Vinny Johnson high. Nothing wrong with that, The Microwave was an excellent ball player.
Walsh really needs to get a pass first PG that can push the ball. I really want him to go after SRod.
why do we need a pass first PG? IS that a prerec to a winning team? If you watched Nate last night in the 4th when he was hot he was making some very good passes. Same old story though with everyone else throwing up bricks. He broke his man down and got Lee the most open look you can get. Clang. Then the same w/ Chandler. Clang.
Nate's passing will come off his scoring. So long as he's taking good shots I dont know why thats bad.

the issue with nate is even when he's playing the well, the team isn't making up any ground on the score board. they actually were outscored by orlando during nate's hot streak.

I think most people would have no problem resigning Nate to a reasonable contract. If we could sign him for four years at $4 million per, I would do it. The problem is that there is going to be more competition for Nate next summer since he will be an unrestricted FA and there will be a number of teams with cap room. We might have to offer $30/5yr deal to keep him.

don't agree. There were plenty of teams with either space or the MLE that could have nabbed Nate but didn't. We shall see what happens.

Basketball is team game. Even Michael Jordan did not win until he started trusting his teammates. If Lil Nate keeps going off and having scoring binges but his teammates becomes spectators, do you think that is winning basketball?
