Off Topic · Anyone ever take an online defensive driving course before? (page 1)

I'm taking it right now and man is it brutal..So boring...ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. I can't get more than 10 mins w/o switching over to UK for an NBA FA update. LOL!!

I'm taking the 'I drive safely' online class for the 10% discount --- I just switched from Allstate to Gieco and just saved over $350 bucks over 6 months on a 99 Toyota Corolla. Originally paying close to $600 every 6 months, I suspected that was too high but was lazy getting around to switching it...Then all of a sudden, Allstate calls me and tells me they've dropped our homeowners insurance. For no good reason mind you -- never made a claim on the house or anything, just kept paying (overpaying) these idiots every month like a good little soldier. They told me that they were dropping every newer policyholder (I've had them for house & auto for the last 7 years) in the event that if a major huricaine ever hit, it would wipe them out...Huh?? I was like WTF dude, are you kidding me? Anyway my immediate response was to yank the car away from them so once I shopped it out at Gieco, I called back these Allstate fools and dropped their ass. Bye-bye..Got another company for the house (and wound up saving more money that way too). So everything's good now..Crazy shit though right? Funny when I did tell them I was taking the car away from them, they acted surprised. I told the girl, look, you dropped us out of the blue on the house for no good reason and you've been ripping me off on an older car that I don't even use to commute to the city anymore (my wife has a company car from her job that they insure)..I have a 99 Carolla, it's in good shape, been payed off for a few years now, but it has over 212,000 miles on it -- it's not even worth the $600 over 6 months they were charging me to insure it. And then they didn't even want to budge when I told them what Gieco was offering and asked what they could do....F Allstate man. Best move I ever made, I only wish I didn't wait so long.. Anyone ever go through anything like this? If anyone's thinking of switching car insurance, def. consider Gieco..Allstate couldn't touch 'em and Liberty Mutual and surpirisingly Progressive weren't really competitive either..

Anyway this class sucks...They've really thought of everything though...When I registered, their automated service called my house to record my voice saying several different number combinations and now during unit 1, it stopped for a break & called again to give me a speech test to verify that it was actually me taking the test. LOL!! Very funny...Anyway, anyone out there take this class before? How's the final exam??? Easy right? I waited to the last minute with this thing -- I gotta bang it out by July 1st to get the discount. It takes about 6 hours they said. Anyone ever take it?

Just imagine it in person. Online sounds much better.

Carefully check the Gieco policy term length. Sometimes they quote you for a 6 month policy.

Yeah it is for 6 months -- Gieco: about $244 over 6 mo., Allstate: $600 for 6 months. Thanks though. You're right, it was one of my first questions..
