Im glad to see he has made such a great comeback--I thought he was penalized just so severely(he made a huge mistake but was it worth 65mm $ and two years in jail?) no

Hopefully he gets his back when his contract comes up

I think he is pretty awesome and was definitely punished way too harshly - Rothlisberger assaulted someone (more than once I believe) and got off with a slap on the wrist.

I don't condone dog fighting but Vick paid way more than he should have.

He was hanging dogs who lost in his fights. I have no sympathy for him. I do give him props for an incredible comeback though.

Best player last nite.

Pro athletes need to have it together off the field to sustain it.

Perhaps he is more a complete person now then a priveleged prodigy who was above it all.

He has so much natural ability but now has to work on his fundamentals and conditioning to make it back.

He might be a better player now, and maybe a better person. Im not judging him, thats for a jury of peers.

Rothlisberger is a slime ball but there is a big difference is the infractions they commited and how each handled it.

Agreed. I'm not rooting for him because I despise what he did, but the man served his time and is getting a deserved 2nd chance and making the most of it. If you read the police blotters there are some guys that have done some pretty horrible things and they get standing ovations when they appear. Hell, Charlie Sheen is winning emmys.

However, you'll never catch me dead rooting for Michael Vick or anyone who killed another person via drunk driving, murder or anything like that. I don't care how good they are.

For the record, I don't think Vick should go to jail. He should have been in a mental institution for a very large amount of time because the stuff he did was absolutely sick and insane. I can't see any rational explanation that would prove he DOESN'T need help.

Vick got mostly jailed for tax evasion and obstruction of Justice.

Not for just killing dogs.

He ran with a tough crowd. He did not rat anyone out and did his time.

Ben got in trouble for getting drunk, picking up a drunk co-ed, and she went to a bathroom stall with him willing.

What happened after that is between them.

Being gross, stupid and drunk is not a crime punishable by jail. A 4 game suspension cost him millions. Im sure she was not worth it. For that kind of coin he should get that magical girl that did in Spitzer. Not some whore dog bathroom slut. No means no and he should not put himself in that position. Besides he could throw his back out.

If he raped her he should do time. At worst we can assume things went to far for the girl and she said no. Don't go to the stall with drunk football player! Thats too damn far.

Guy had a great game, but he was a flawed player before he got in trouble and has a long way to go before we can say that he's not flawed now.

What moral decisions? Whether or not torture and murder on a large scale is forgivable? Whether or not spending time in jail and losing money can change someone capable of these things? In a couple of years?

If my pet was found disemboweled in a dumpster somewhere because it was stolen from my house and used as a bait dog, I wonder if I could overlook these things and just enjoy a game a football.

why doesn't peta protest with as much vigor as they do at the triple crown. horses are whipped during races and put down when they can no longer race. why isn't that as "immoral" as dogfighting?

VDes, I think its safe to say that the eagles coaching staff has corrected many of vick's old playing habits. he stays in the pocket unless absolutely forced to run and is making great decisions. he hasn't thrown a pick yet this season! not to mention he has excellent playmakers around him now. its hard to say if he's playing better than brady is or a few of the other big names but he's certainly one of the best in football this year. giants D will have their hands full on sunday.

Put down after they can't race anymore? Where on Earth did you hear that? I'm almost positive that's not true. They usually have the horse perform new duties after it can't race.

the moral decisions whether or not to be willing to give a man a second chance in society to redeem himself after he's already been punished severely for his past actions... what he does on the football field should be completely separated from what he does in his private life... do i think what he did was right? of course not, that goes without saying, it was a heinous act, but he was punished for it... if a man like Ray Lewis & Donte Stallworth can be given a second chance in football, then i believe Michael Vick deserves one too... if you choose to forever have malice in your heart for this man, that's your choice.

I never wished malice on the man. He just needs serious psychotherapy IMHO. At the time, I thought he should have gone to jail, but looking back, to do what he did. All the things he did... it takes a seriously sick person to do that. THAT is the reason I wouldn't want him on the Giants organization if it were up to me. I wouldn't want a guy like that around my players and other staff members. You're right though. He has every right now that he paid his dues, to go and get another chance, and he did. I just simply wont be a fan of his.

Also, read the book Eating Animals, which details the truly horrific conditions that chickens, cows, etc live in, essentially raised to be killed.

I have a hard time separating raising animals which we then kill to eat, racing horses and putting them down b/c both ankles are broken, and fighting dogs. To be honest none of them really phase me terribly.

Maybe I just like playing Devil's advocate but vick bankrolled the operation and may or may not have been present for a few fights and executions. by and large it was the minions who ratted him out that strangled these dogs or drowned them or whatever. vick was just the malevolent "pocket book" for the crew. people make it seem like vick was there with his hands dirty killing dogs. from everything i've read thats simply not the case beyond one or two occasions where he was "there" but not actually doing the dirty work.

whether he was or wasn't there some or all of the time really isn't the bigger issue... his legacy was forever tarnished, he lost tens of millions of dollars, and he did two years of hard time in federal penetentiary. maybe i'm cynical but i think that's a fair price for bankrolling a dog fighting operation and maybe being around on a few occasions when dogs were killed.

ray lewis may or may not have murdered someone, he didn't do any time. donte stallworth ran someone over drunk and did like 30 days in a half way house. taking it beyond sports, the famed and beloved senator ted kennedy drove his car drunk off a bridge and killed the passenger who was riding in the car with him. yet we have 24-hour TV marathons mourning his loss. america is a strange place indeed. the fact that the animosity that vick faces -- arguably the least immoral of the people listed above -- is well beyond what any of them face(d) perplexes me and makes me defend the guy.
