I don't care about your political background.
[Then don't make assumptions and categorize me about my political leanings ....i.e. Your quote---Left wing liberal rhetoric spouting off about right wing rhetoric. America as usual.
I'd like youto formulate non adhominen arguments. It's like me saying I like frosted flakes and you berating me because you hate tigers. Who cares how educated or supposedly(how do you not know, if they're your friends) how educated your friends are? I'm not even sure how your wikipedia posting correlates here. This reminds me of the movie team America where all the muslims say durka, durka Mohammed jihad....except here it's durka, durka, Limbaugh, Palin.
Don't want to seem like I avoided you but I had to run out to a couple of meetings and just returned. As Martin wrote - maybe we can open up an OT thread to discuss politics.
(Note in reply: I should have written/edited - supposedly "intelligent", highly educated friends......) They are highly educated - M.D.; PhD.; MBA. and extremely competent in their fields, but logic goes out the window and pure emotions are expressed when politics comes up. Usually best to just avoid the subject - and talk basketball.
The main thing is that I hope Giffords continues to improve, and my heart goes out to all of the innocent people who were hurt in this.

based on the early info that's in i would agree with you. seems to be a mark chapman/john hinckley type. would love it if we could figure out a way to keep guns out of these guys' hands.
Right, then right after that, you could figure out explosives, fertilizer, knives, blunt objects, broken candles, empty milk cartons, mean faces, psycho eyes...etc etc etc
oooh I have a cure for psycho eyes. It's called love.

Yes, I watch it every 10 years or so. It keeps getting better and better.
Great film but I have to admit I watch it now mostly to remind me what NY used to look like back in the day.

so what's your stake in having it continue to be easy as pie for a psychotic individual to get his hands on a hand gun?

"The Republican vice presidential candidate attracted criticism for accusing Mr Obama of "palling around with terrorists", citing his association with the sixties radical William Ayers.
The attacks provoked a near lynch mob atmosphere at her rallies, with supporters yelling "terrorist" and "kill him" until the McCain campaign ordered her to tone down the rhetoric.
But it has now emerged that her demagogic tone may have unintentionally encouraged white supremacists to go even further.
The Secret Service warned the Obama family in mid October that they had seen a dramatic increase in the number of threats against the Democratic candidate, coinciding with Mrs Palin's attacks."
Wow, its funny to see all the people trying to absolve Sarah Palin in this thread. Its like she has never addressed the fringe (and by definition the crazy elements) in her speeches and try to fan the flames of hatred. But if this guy had no direct connection to Palin then of course she is completely above blame. If Sarah Palin is allowed to run her mouth this country will be divided into Republicans and terrorists, you heard it here first.
I'm no Palin fan. She's probably smarter and defeintly more driven than the average bear but defenitly not VP or anywhere close to that material. I thik at this point she's just trying to cash in. But I think what's funny is how desperate you are to put this on here and the 'Limbaughites'. I mean she would be nothing if people like you would stop the hate that pumps her up as big as she is.

My stake is that legislative prohibition only protects innocent people from having guns, not psychotics and criminals. Or maybe you've never heard of the 18th and 21st amendments to the Constitution? And no, i'm not a rabid gun owner.

those are about prohibition of liquor. are you making a direct connection between that and access to handguns?

Put what on her? What it is that you think I am trying to put on her? I didnt claim she was directly involved, I said there would never be any accountability. Through sheer stupidity and vulgar behavior she made some very suggestive gestures that may have helped create a thought process that leads to this type of incident. Yes Politicians do shape how people think, ths has been true for centuries and that goes double for fringe people with less than adequate reasoning decision making ability.
The other thing I said was that she wouldn't be held accountable because of the propaganda machinery. And you made whatever assumptions you made and said "Reason and evidence be damned" - To that the flip answer would have been : Under George F Bush we all saw how "evidence" of WMDs and "reason" to believe those would be used against us, played out. And how he was held accountable (NOT) for a completely pointless war that wasted over a trillion dollars and countless Iraqi lives. Instead I tried to keep it simple and all I said was I don't think right wing politics should be confused with rational behavior. Just my opinion.
Now that's all you will hear from on this, I have nothing further to discuss here.

LOL. I knew Bush had to be hiding in there somewhere. Still waiting for Cheney to resurface.... Well after, the facts have been laid out he's a nutjob and all the BS about Limbaugh, his Limbaughites and Palin is quite tangential.
I moved out of tucson friday aftersoon. Just in time! Its like the wild wild west out there.
Thread is dead but this is a 2010 Democratic ad.
Palin is a B for fanning the flames of war, remember her "“If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun,”" quote??
