Knicks · Dispelling the myth that the Knuggets are like the Championship Piston team (page 2)
JR Smith playing for a contract

Team is going to very different next year.

They are 14-4 overall and 13-4 with our former players
When they were like 5-1 or whatever it was the other angry mob was...."watch them fall off".....lol
Not to mention when you look at their overall record since trade factoring losses.....here's the kicker or stinger...."they've been in all of their games"
- 1pt overtime loss to Portland a game they had won Brandon Roy 3ptr to send into OT
- 6pt loss to Clippers
- 3pt loss to Magic Jameer Nelson game winner
- 5pt loss to the Heat
all road games 3 against Playoff teams. 65% of their wins they've been winning convincingly. Gallo/Chandler/Afflalo/Felton have all been injured at different times and/or simultaneously during this stretch

So were our free agents last year and we lost at an alarming rate. Your point is?
Everything depends on what the new CBA results and the Nuggets desired capital. If they want everyone back, they can retain them with ease, as I've stated many times already.
The only Free Agent I see most likely leaving is K-Mart. Nene using OKC as leverage just died at the deadline.
You act like our team isn't going to look different. You realize we're heading into the summer with Free Agents....possibly no cap, and a skeleton roster?

That is very impressive.

Big difference they actually like their players, the coach likes them, they like each other, they aren't your typical free agent retreads. 2011 is not 2010, there is no Lebron/Wade/Bosh/Amar'e/Gay/Scola/Johnson/Boozer/Lee/Felton simultaneously walking through 2011 Free Agency's door

Let me help you out
Earl Barron - NOT in the NBA
Jonathan Bender - NOT in the NBA
Eddy Curry - NOT in the NBA
Chris Duhon - 3rd string guard for Orlando
JR Giddens - Not in the NBA
Eddie House - Bench warmer for Miami
Marcus Landry - Not in the NBA
Sergio Rodriguez - Not in the NBA
Larry Hughes - Not in the NBA
David Lee - Starter on Lottery Team
Darko Milicic - Starter on Lottery Team
Al Harrington - 6th man for Playoff Team
Tracy McGrady - Starter for Lottery Team
Please stop acting like Gallo, Chandler, Moz, and Felton were taking this team anywhere but the lottery without Amare.
AnubisADL - Please stop lumping all former Knicks in one huge basket. But since you started it, here is an alternate take on former Knicks.
Tom Thibadeau - head coach Bulls, assistant coach in New York
Doc Rivers - head coach, Boston Celtics
Greg Anthony - no doubt, the shirt was ugly but he is doing a decent job at the microphone
Matt Carroll - still in the league after the Knicks cut him, 39 per cent three point shooter
Majiej Lampe - playing well in Europe
Jamal Crawford - sixth man on playoff team
Marcus Camby - he would be perfect right about now
Nene - the big man we never had
Antonio McDyess - still playing well after all these years
Matt Barnes - Lakers enforcer
Ime Udoka - you make the Spurs, you can play
Zach Randolph - All Star
Channing Frye - starter on playoff team
Danilo Gallinari - starter on team that just beat the Lakers, all star in two years
Wilson Chandler - averaging 7 rebounds for a team headed to the playoffs
Ron Artest - sure pick from St Johns, passed on draft night, starting for World Champion Lakers
Ray Felton - leading second team for playoff team
Anthony Randolph - 6'11 and taller than anyone on the Knicks roster
Please don't make the false assumption that all former Knicks cannot play basketball at a high quallity level

This rational, well thought out post convinces me that the recently traded Knicks weren't very good.
Would we really want a guy who while a great defender is also certifiable in the toxic environment we had here in the 00s? This wasn't the 90s where we had three arguable knuckleheads starting and we were winning big.
It's almost impossible to compare the two. One was an exceptionally disciplined team that thrived defensively, while the other has taken on Dantoni's pathetic speed ball philosophy.

His post would make sense if Denver had a losing record post trade but they don't
Real simple ish here.....
28-26 above .500
post trade new team
13-4 above .500(which is a better winning percentage than they had with Melo with the same money hungry Free Agents)
Maybe just maybe they were better than some of you thought they were as a Whole.....as a TEAM....or in Synergy
Anibus is basically saying
Nene
Afflalo
Smith
Martin
are comparable to our sucky money hungry Free Agents we had last year....... yet the Nugz have a winning record and improved/higher winning percentage since acquiring our good for nothing, going nowhere former players. Meanwhile where were the Nugz going with Melo?

Wrong. I am lamenting drafting Frederic Weis.
Of course, living in New York could have been a disaster for Artest. If so, you get rid of him.
If Artest is certifiable then he is certifiable with a championship ring.
Arguable knuckeheads?
Please name them.

Why do you keep buchering my Username?
Anyways Im stating that Nene, Martin, and Smith are talent players who have extra motivation tanks to this being a contract year. Think John Salmons last year when he was traded to Milwaukee.
misterearl wrote:Killa4luv - nice analysis, and no way am I crowning the Denver Knicks but...who was on the Pistons bench?
The Nuggets have two complete NBA teams and are LONG.
Ty Lawson/ Chauncey Billups: advantage Mister Big Shot
Afflalo/ Rip Hamilton: advantage the mask
Gallo/ Tayshaun Prince: Gallo drives it harder these days, advantage hairdo
Martin/ Ben Wallace: both beasting inside
Nene/ Rasheed WallacePlease continue to match up with the rest of the Pistons roster
Felton, scrappy-do sets the tone
JR Smith, 6'6' stick of dynamite, nearly so gifted as Kobe (his brain is another matter)
Harrington, 6'9 and will bring energy for a short shift
Chandler, don't sleep 6'8 The Mayor's defense
Mozgov, looks fluid and has great footwork for a 7' BIG man
Anderson, 6'10 comic relief role player with too many tats
Koufos with fouls to give at 7'0
Certainly just comparing the depth of Denver's roster and the picks; they have an easier path to dominating the Western conference for years. Just have to play the cards they have well. Were I them I'd be angling for Griffin.
For the Knicks the course looks to be far less clear. Certainly not one but two reliable big men are needed at the least.

The motivation was there pre trade what don't you understand about this? Key guys were injured during the season like K-Mart and Andersen but you need to stop acting like the Nuggets are 13-4 because K-Mart wants his money. It would make sense if the free agent Nuggets you mentioned were traded to Denver but they weren't..... like Salmons was to the Bucks and year prior to the Bulls. They are free agents like many other teams who have free agents....key is>>>>>>(Marbury Voice)------------> THEY GOT HELP NOW------------>Chandler/Gallo/Felton/Moz

Starks, Oak and Mase? A case can be made for all three, but we had great coaches in place, the environment was really good and we contended year after year in the 90s, so it didn't matter.
Yes, he does have a ring and he's getting another one in two months, but that's the Ron Artest of 2010 you're referring to - the one that got the wake up call he desperately needed five years earlier when his antics came to a head and gave him a year-long vacation. The Lakers (again, great coach, great environment) probably wouldn't have signed the pre-brawl version. I'm totally with you on Weis, but, IMO, looking back, we shouldn't have drafted him either.

Dominating the Western Conference for years? K Mart and JR are FA's this summer and Afflalo and Wilson are RFA's this summer. How deep are the Nugs withouth those 4?
You're right, the new-look Nuggets have been excellent on defense. If you haven't seen this stat yet in previous articles, check this out: Before the trade, Denver allowed 105.2 points per game. In the 19 games since, including the good effort against the Lakers on Sunday, the Nuggets have allowed just 94.8
