Off Topic · OT: BIN LADEN DEAD (page 2)

I'm happy for the victim's families, I hope this brings them some solace after all these years!

While I think it is ok to celebrate, I think its important people keep this situation in perspective. Osama's death almost seems like an afterthought when considering all that has happened since 9/11. How many of our troops have died in the last 10 years? How many civilians? How many trillions of debt? Can we look back and say it was all worth it? This war is FAR from over.
If Osama's death meant the decisive end to the war, like it did in Sri Lanka after nearly 30 years, then I'd be rejoicing as much as anyone else.
Make no mistake this Osama was a monster and he did not represent any religion...he was just evil. Disgusting.

I just sincerely hope we all stay focused on the big picture.

May God bless America, and all the good people in the world.

I'm not a huge fan of all the Fox News hate (because I think CNN is just as ridiculous), but this is beyond absurd. If they had any journalistic integrity all the news producers would get fired and the network would issue an immediate apology. Unfuckingbelievable

Nalod @ 5/2/2011 7:48 AM
Is Fox treating it as: "Washington African male Kills elderly man"?
Nalod @ 5/2/2011 7:53 AM
Al Queda killed far more Arabs than westerners. When they were rejected by their own was when they started exporting the terror on westerners. The Arab Spring has shown many want to move forward not backwards.

Orthodox always fear their religion will diluted with reform. Extreme fundamental movements are born form the orthodox.

Very good news. Slept quite contentedly last night as it was some very good news before bed.

Thought this was interesting, too. Apparently the news was released right as the PPV was ending, so Cena also announced it to the fans after he just won the title, which is kinda cool:

The old goober could have been axed anytime in the last 15 years. Clinton could have done it. Bush could have done it. Does anyone actually think Osama's security was any better immediately after 9-11 than it is now? Did the Navy Seals suddenly get better scores at black ops with this administration?

It's pretty frightening to think that determining if and when to kill someone is just another political football.

"Under my direction, we shot the mother in the head. Justice was done. Now forget about my dayum birth cert, or I just might send some bad A's out to your house next."

it's been documented that clinton’s attempt to kill him was thwarted by the pakistan gov't tipping him off. we've also heard all about the botched attempt at bora bora following 9-11.

what would you like us to take from your last comment?

Nothing good can come of it if Pakistan is involved. Can you believe he was hiding in a retirement village for Pakistan's military officers.

Nalod always thought "Keep your friends close but your enemies closer!"

Knocking him off now is more symbolic as we have for years cutting off his circle. I suppose if you had him and could "listen" you can learn more about the network then quickly eliminate it.

Also for American imperialistic purposes you need an enemy to promote fear in the region. We could have taken out Saddam Hussein in 91' but needed a credible threat in place to justify our existance int he region.

We got rid of him when he no longer served a purpose.

Funny, It was said that Democracy would never take hold in the middle east but the "Arab Spring" is proving otherwise.

TEN YEAR search, they finally find the man, and within 12 hours, they "bury" (hide) the body at sea. Does this not sound just a little fishy to anyone else?

i think it was in accordance with 24-hour burial window that normally happens for that religion. interpret the implications as you may

At sea? I don't think so. They made sure that body could never be found again.

Just like the Russians burned Hitler's body. What's your point? Do you think he deserved a shrine where people could worship him?

I'm struggling to understand your implications. This isn't a mystery, the guy was a global enemy that changed the course of world history in a profoundly negative way.

You've completely misinterpreted me.
No, I'm not saying he deserved a shrine.
I'm saying that it's awfully suspicious that they destroyed the body, and that we have to take their word for it that it actually was Osama Bin Laden. Why destroy the body? Why not put it somewhere where further proof could be extracted if needed? DNA evidence? Riiiight.

Andrew @ 5/2/2011 11:47 AM
The reason that was in print....what country was going to accept his body for burial?
