Knicks · Toney Douglas was playing with a torn labrum (should muscle)... ouch (page 2)

which does not excuse the lapsed he had defending Rondo. I wasn't complaining about him going under screens but, continuing to backpeddle instead of planting your feet to stop his drive. He'd backpeddle and then jump out of the way.

When a guy is running down the court you have to stop his momentum...not let him walk it all the way to the basket. Too many of Rondo's points came way too easily.

Sure he showed hart by being out there but, he obviously hurt the team. Carter played much better defense on Ray Allen and Rondo.

You go out and play your assumed to be healthy (for the most part). Your not supposed to let your injury hurt the team by playing

Good thing we didn't trade him!!!!! Wow, imagine running a team without knowing all the information!

Yet he kept shooting and shooting and shooting and shooting and shooting and shooting as if he was in a desert with no Oasis in sight.

If your too injured to produce or guard you hurt the team by your very presence.

Steve Nash under d'A

05-06 PHX 79 79 2,795 541-1,056 150-342 257-279 47 286 333 826 61 12 276 120 1,489

that's 1054+971 total shots in the two years or 2025 /(2795+2682) or 0.3697 near enough 0.370 shots/minute

For Douglas I'll use career totals-
Career -- 137 21 3,058 493-1,146 211-558 140-175 105 247 352 356 131 7 144 293 1,337

1146/3058 = 0.374 yes that is shooting more than a "pass first" Steve Nash but he is already showing he is approaching Nash like point guard skills thanks to coach. On defense.

d'A stops practice to chew his players out if they pass up an open shot. I've seen it on tape myself.

Where in this post did you prove Douglas has shown he's approaching Steve Nash caliber point guard skills? If that was the case we would have had different plans with Billups and Douglas wouldn't have played next to Billups and Felton as a 2 guard.

Then you have the nerve to compare a backup who plays less minutes/gm over a starter. What badge of honor are you receiving from Douglas?

Comments are just that. You can make your mouth or letters and numbers or even a set of eyes see what they want. There might even be a grain of truth in there somewhere. The last comment is just laughable.

I'm just a fan of a player. Who are you and what claim do you have to being an expert?

I haven't seen him chew out many people other than Douglas. I also have never seen a practice film where he has stopped practice and chewed out a player. I am not saying it hasn't happened but I try to watch any Knick stuff that I can. Was this in Phoenix?

Summer League when Douglas first got there. One of the first summer league practice videos. TD passed up an open 3 ...practice stops Douglas gets chewed out. And by the way your man is slow going under the screen you are supposed to make him pay for giving you space. That is what Rondo cannot consistently do. Though he does about everything else to perfection.

for all your complaints about he just kept shooting as well he was 7-18 from 3 for .389 made one 'onions' give us a chance in game 1 in the playoffs and hit every free throw.

BasketballJones @ 5/12/2011 12:45 PM
Good thing you told us it was the shoulder muscle.
DurzoBlint @ 5/13/2011 12:34 PM
Well, I guess I'm on the Juice cause I agree with him. Nash like....is laughable, like saying Sweetney is Amare-like
DurzoBlint @ 5/13/2011 12:37 PM
numbers and stats are so misleading. They are what had me (I feel stupid now)thinking David Lee was comparable to Amare. Seeing Amare in action...numbers aside, Amare is so, so much better its not even worthy of debate.
Olbrannon @ 5/13/2011 2:04 PM
it was all kind of tongue in cheek to begin with and still is... then there are the percentages so close it got me to thinking. Duhon, Felton, Billups, Marbury, TD have one thing in common as Knick point guards. The common thing is more than who is coach. They all have been criticized for shooting too much. And all had moments when they were criticized for their defense under that same coach. I literally cringed at times last year watching Duhon at point. And he has a nat'l championship ring.

The Nash similarity was pointed in that the ratio of shot/minute was so close it surprised me. And TD began his career regarded as a skilled defensive player while the defense I saw reminded me of Nash(Boston series). Just saying he is approaching Nash in certain phases under his teacher. Obviously the assist ratio still has to increase

Rondo didn't even get a look under d'A The Suns took him and traded him to the Celtics.

DurzoBlint @ 5/13/2011 2:27 PM
I criticize him for that pathetic example of defense he perpetrated against Rondo. Sure I know your shoulder hurts but that does not excuse him continuing to back peddle and simply allow Rondo a strait path to the rim.

Defense 101....stop the ball. Instead of a defender he was more of an "enabler"

I swear, there were times he would back peddler into photographers row. All he had to do was plant his feet.

Juice @ 5/13/2011 2:57 PM
I could care less he was playing with a torn labrum, if he decides to strap em up then "play the right way"

To my knowledge no one ever questioned Douglas' heart or toughness

What's in question is his team play execution/defense/bball iq all things you know essentially non injury related. He got a few at a boys down the stretch of the season mainly when he showed up offensively but sorry a player IMO should never be judged on offensive output only.

Funny thing is the ones who were getting on coach for not utilizing his bench properly were being told certain players couldn't play because where was the time and fit for them yet...

Amar'e was battered/tired down the stretch

Fields looked like he hit a wall down the stretch

Shawn Williams tore a ligament in his finger played the season out with it

Douglas torn labrum all year

These guys continued to get lions share minutes. This should give you more insight as to who we have leading this team. Now to Douglas credit he didn't bich out to the media openly about his injury or about his wear and tear like our $100mil man who's name will go unmentioned but he still has to execute when out on the floor. Coach contributed heavily almost running him into the ground another one of his victims. But if you're healthy enough to play and healthy enough to get up shots, then you're healthy enough to pass and play defense and run offense.....<-------simplistic logic here folks

I said No one harassed the outlet passer, no one impeded Rondo down court no help at the rim.. If a team scores within 3 seconds from gaining posession on the other end of the court it's a team problem Not just one guy. And.... shooting\is what d'A PG's do besides the p-n-r

Get what? I'm confused. What do you accomplish by bashing others? You pick out one player and isolate on something over and over. As if you were able to influence the outcome. I observe and conclude You rant...

What of his game against NO when Stat supposedly saw fit to steal his underwear. What of the tine after time I have seen him come off the bench and spark the defense and make a run at the deficit we were at?

What of tying an NBA record for most 3's?

What of Skiles comments about him after last game against Minny?

It's a free country buddy.
