If anyone has seen him play--hes a real baller. Not very athletic but real good skills/post up moves can shoot the long range J and good rebounder. Watched him against Kansas this year and was impressed. You are talking 6-11.5 260 with a 7-5 wingspan on a kid with excellent basketball skills. That is a very nice sized PF in my book--hes tough too with a good mentality. I thought he was 6-9 245 ish--hes BIG. That is a guy who has to come on to our radar with the size/skill package. Some of these guys measured so small--this is a big kid.
At this size--for how we play--we wont pick another player better than him for us. The guy cabn play a legit 5 and can move out to 3pt line at times. But his bread game is in the post--this is a great revelation he is that big. We need a guy who can play skill 4-5. There will be picks available if we want a PG---hard to find skilled guys 6-11+ 260 and tough. This is my pick and Im sticking with it. I like Marshon brooks a lot too but hes not 6-11+ 260.
sign me up! You've been pretty solid with your picks - and if we can add a guy with his size that can hold his own down low and grab rebounds - perfect. An outside shot? I think D'Antoni might just play him!
Nikola Vucevic (7-4 ½ wingspan) and Jon Leuer (6-10 without shoes, 7-0 wingspan, 223 pounds) measured in just a shade under 7-0 with shoes on, with Vucevic earning the nod for tallest player in attendance without shoes at 6-10 ¼, ranking as the second heaviest player at 260 pounds, and posting a standing reach half-an-inch higher than Greg Oden's at 9-4.5. Considering how capable those two players are from the perimeter, those measurements are certainly intriguing, and Vucevic was one of the clear winners at the combine.

He's skilled, but he's one of those guys who seems to be confused about where on the court their games are the most effective. I wouldn't mind taking him if we had another pick, but his head kinda makes me nervous about grabbing him with our only pick.
to me there are two outliers that are of interest at 4/5 from looking at the numbers They are Vernon Macklin and Greg Smith
Greg Smith 6' 8.5" 6' 10" 251 7' 3" 8' 11.5" 6.4 11.25 0 28.5 11' 4" 35.5 11' 11" NA 8.33 4.01 NA No
Vernon Macklin 6' 8.5" NA 243 7' 3.5" 9' 0.75" NA 0 0 31.0 11' 7.75" NA NA NA 12.90 3.03 NA No
Those last two numbers given are 3/4 court sprint and just before it is the agility score. both these guys are beefy enough to do time at 4/5 from the numbers one is very agile and one is very quick.
Singleton checked in at 6'7.75 and 230 but no scores for most of the invited players at the combine on vertical or sprint or anything else.
Jordan Williams was shorter than I expected.
Still don't see anything for sure better than Mozgov
And in all the numbers remember that Sir Charles was only 6'4 (Outlier of the Decade?)

this guy is a baller--he knows how to play plus in this style he can help by shooting an occasional 3. But hes a skill low post player tough good basketball player. I thought he was 6-9 240 ish---not as intriguing as 6.115 260 almost think hes a no brainer pick if hes there now--remember this draft sucks we have no picks for a long time and this kid is almost 7 feet tall 260 pounds and can play now

Vucevic had great numbers - 17.1 ppg; 10.3reb/game 35% 3pt%; 50.5% fg%
At 6'11" 260lbs I am surprised he isn't being considered for the first round. He's a Jr.
Looks like Vucevic is projected to be a 2nd round pick.
Junior forward Nikola Vucevic announced that he will forego his senior season and enter his name into the pool for the upcoming NBA Draft. The 6’10″ big man from Montenegro will sign with an agent and does not have the option of returning to school. Vucevic averaged 17.1 points per game and pulled down 10.3 rebounds while shooting 50.5% from the floor. In addition, Nikola was named First Team All-Pac-10. He added a consistent presence inside for the Trojans for much of the regular season, but struggled in the postseason against immediate double teams.
Vucevic had said earlier in the week that he would not leave the Trojans unless he expected to be a first-round pick. Some pundits have him being selected in the mid-second round of their mock drafts, while Chad Ford of ESPN believes Nikola could sneak in to the end of the first round. At a press conference to announce the decision, Vucevic told reporters, “I’m mature enough. It was a really tough decision. I know I can’t stay here forever.”
But he is moving up - Draft Express yesterday
DraftExpress: NBA exec: "If you were watching Enes Kanter or Nikola Vucevic for the 1st time yesterday, close your eyes and pick one of them from 10-20."

Briggs, you have me interested.
Interesting that he's a PAC-10 guy - that's where the Knicks scored last year with Landry Fields while it seemed like a lot of other teams didn't fully scout the PAC-10.
Saw him play once, can't remember against who. He plays like a Euro big.
He is big, but I'm not sold on him. I think he's soft. at least that was my impression.
But Id tak e him over Faried thats for sure.
I prefer Keith Benson or Greg Smith.
Benson needs to be drinking 2000 calorie shakes and hitting the weights all summer. But he's got the height, wingspan and athleticism we need. He has a developing post game and jumped the highest of everyone at the combine. With his lenght and athleticism, he can be a Marcus Camby type.
Greg SMith while not as tall is built like a rock, with hands bigger than Zeus and loads of athleticism. We need athletic bigs if we have a choice.
I remember seeing him play once, he didnt really stand out and he is supposed to be the man in USC. He looked soft and couldnt dominate against people shorter than him
Vucevic will move up the boards and may not even be there when we draft.

True. The appealing thing about taking him is that you can stash him in Europe and hope that he develops some more before bringing him in.
Briggs, clearly the Knicks need a center and I myself am intrigued by Nikola Vucevic. But what about Jeremy Tyler? Based on combine numbers, he measures to be just as big as Vucevic. In addition, he is the better athlete, more explosive, runs the floor better and like Vucevic has a nice jumper out to 15 feet. Ignoring Tyler's possible baggage for the moment, which of the two is the better talent and by extension the better player for the knicks. Also, one of your fellow posters Misterearl is very high on Darius Morris. Since the knicks are also in need of PG help, do you still think one of the two bigs or Morris is the better pick.
The PAC-10 most definitely is NOT an elite conference. Never discount production though. If this guy has produced at his size, then, yes, he deserves a look. But keep in mind the conference was wide open in large part both because of a lack of elite talent this year as well as better than usual talent in the mid major conferences.
Thanks for the reply. I also believe Vucevic deserves a look. But how would compare Tyler and Vucevic. Which of the two do you think is the more talented player and better pick for the Knicks.
My eyes are not great... has anyone mentioned if this guy can play D?
Is he a defensive presence?
Got to have somebody intimidating folks who penetrate, and Briggs, you know that this is important, as you've talked about it a lot.
I will take a guy with a post up game and intimidation ability over a player who has an inside/outside game and no defensive talent.
I can't see taking a big without defensive ability.
Still... the guy seems to have an interesting set of offensive skills and physical attributes.

hes a big tough kid. He can also play 4-5 which is nice. a Very big 4 with post skills and a very suitable diverse 5 for this style of play. If the Knicks brought in a Dalembart with Jerome jordan and this guy--I think we would've re-bolstered the front-line for a good period of time. Why cant a guy who is a willing worker with good size play good D?
We really need a PG unless BRIGGS' plan is to wait for 2012 to sign CP3/DW as a FA. I could get on board with that. If we can sign us a big in this draft that woud develop over his rookie season (ine the NBA, preferably) then we can make due with TD as a backup PG and hope he grows a brain before the All-Star break.
