Knicks should target Aaron Gray with as little of the MLE as they can, and other pure shooter or Reggie Evans type with the rest. Draft a young PG like Morris.

Aaron Gray is a plodder(a good developing big though) in the mold of Marc Gasol..."not our type of center" but philosophically I agree with you about the approach

what does that mean? a 40 year old Jabbar played on Showtime. You don't need a sprinting C.
selby does not seem ready for the L from that interview

I agree and my guess is Walsh does also. However, I don't see any of the guys you mentioned getting run for the current coach.

I think you are wrong on the bolded part but let me add this: Walsh building a championship team first, not a team that you or MDA thinks will play or not.
I think Hahn is right... The Sonics have plenty of pieces to offer for Chirs Paul. They unravelled due to a lack of experience. They could offer Westbrook, Harden, and picks or something similar.

We just need a C who is better than Turiaf at rebounding and finishing. Turiaf is solid off the bench but we have to find a starting center. Luckily there are a few who are better that should be able to be had for cheap. Not sure Gray is better but i would consider him if someone told me good things about him. If we aren't going to be able to get a player of the quality of Dalembert, then our best options that should be available might be Nazr Mohammed or Kwame Brown. Both have good size, are good rebounders, and have better offensive abilities than Turiaf. Not ideal, but these are decent options that make us better. As for finding a shooter, Anthony Parker seems like a great option, but we should also consider Grant Hill who isn't a 3-point shooter but makes us better. We should consider splitting mid-level money for 1 year between one of those bigs and one of those 2 wings.
Moonangie wrote:We add value by taking back a bad deal in a trade for CP3. They certainly have one of those in OK4, who also would fill an important role for us on D. Billups and Turiaf would make the money work out (both expiring) and we throw in Fields and TD (or whomever we draft for them in June). It's not the same situation as Melo because the Hornets have less leverage (i.e., the new CBA will be in place). So CP3 will not be heading into an unknown. He is a max player and if the Knicks (incl. Stat and Melo) want him then they will restructure their deals to make it possible.
Interesting idea, but I still doubt that would be enough. Hopefully, Walsh can find another gem like Timmy M. to add to the team to give us some more assets to package in a deal.

I would not give up Harden. I would tell NO Westbrook and a draft pick for Chris Paul. Take it or leave it. NO is not going to get a better deal.

Agreed. Harden is really crucial to their team.
Also, it was hilarious how much Breen loved Harden last night. He praised every single thing the dude did.

Reminds me of the Marbury-Kidd trade.
ONly in hindsight. I think people forget because Marbury flamed out here, that he was a really really good player. Their were traded straight up for each other. J. Kidd hadn't solidified his rep until NJ when he led that team to the finals twice and unlike steve nash never won an MVP for it.

Dont trade Durant for CP3. Durant is ready yet, and neither are westbrook. What are they? 22-23? THey'll figure it out. Their whole team is young nd developing. They have a superstar and a star, and LA, SA, and Dallas are fading. they'll be alright.
like the big 3 deal was decided during the olympics a few years back, i believe that cp3, amare and melo decided last year they would get together. cp3 will be a knick and i think you can take that to the bank.
As for the thunder, i believe howard will go there once his contract is done in orl. They will prob lose westbrook as a result, but i think its an easy decision for them to make. That is what will get them to the next level.

I believe you about CP3, but Howard to OKC? no way.
WHy not? Him and Durant would be killer. If they kept Westbrook somehow it would be better than MIami's big 3.

I think the team makes sense, just not the market I see Howard being attracted to. IMHO he lands in a big market city.
Howard lands in NJ if he's traded next year and stays in Orlando if he's not traded.
I hope Paul becomes a Knick but I don't see it.

Howard + Gilbert to NJ for Lopez + ?
how do you match salaries? I just don't see how NJ can pull it off, no assets outside of Lopez.

his choices:
ny - least chance, no cap room and $ to sign him and he aint coming here for free.
miami - similar to ny in terms of $'s. no room. also, i hear him and bron aint even close to being friendly to each other.
la - tough to convine him to play w an aging kobe, but the idea of 3 7 footers is pretty scary. alot of the lakers future hinges on what brown does next year. it cld be refreshing or revolting.
nj - seriously zipper? he said he didnt want to play in NY, and you thik he'll want to play in NJ? i dont think he like kim kardashian that much....
the 2 rules when trading someone of his caliber are:
1) you trade him to a club in the OTHER conference or
2) if he blocks that, you trade him outside of your own division
only teams that satisfy this mold, and he would want to go to, are the thunder and the lakers. at the end of the day, he wants a ring. where else other than la or okc can he get that quickly? at least with okc, he has a chance at multiple rings - dallas, the spurs, the lakers will all be in transition next year. so, who is left in the west? yup, the thunder.
