Of course we'll never really know what the "results" you refer to mockingly might have been because Walsh had the chair taken out from under him during the Anthony deal and was, in essence, unable to build the roster he hoped to build.Actually I thought he might have been referring to Donnie's results...20+ years as an NBA exec...Zero rings...
Why don't you make a list of all the execs who have won titles? Not many do win them, even some we consider to be good ones.

Donnie is a very good man and professional..I'm just not as impressed as others are about the job he is or was doing...Maybe you can enlighten me as to the good things he was doing as a Knicks exec...
Now Knicks are happy group of losers so their job is done.
Dolan will have a bunch of idiots to fill the Garden to watch Stat and Melo going one on one until they drop.
We will witness a lot of drama, the kaleidoscope of GMs and coaches, players and bureaucrats hanging around and falling one by one.
Not sure what this all has to do with basketball game. But I guess this is entertainment most of New Yorkers like.

You commented only on everything I posted on this thread. I ask you a question and you don't respond. What's up with that?

The Knicks aren't losers anymore remember? They had a winning record this year!
Do you really think it's likely that the Knicks won't actually still enter a period of winning and playoff runs with 2 top 10 scorers on the team? Walsh did his job well enough that the team is on a good course. The hardest thing to do is put together a winning core, which he has done. Whatever GM we end up with doesn't have as hard of a task in front of him.
The world could be ending tomorrow and everything is fine and dandy.
I need a vacation....

No I don't I realize there are other qualified and well respected execs out there to replace the very average one leaving. Don's a good dude and I hope he does well wherever he goes but sorry he wasn't as good as advertised. And quite frankly not sure how much decision making was completely his while here. Yes he brought a ton of respect here but he's not the only exec in the NBA who brings this quality to a franchise.
Sorry, your basketball opinion is not respected. Actually, you yourself are not respected. Stick to making nicknames like Walshed Up. You sucked at those but it was all you were good for.
To celebrate the firing of a man who helped change this team from awful, pathetic joke to respectable franchise is a slap in the face to real Knick fans. Maybe it's the fact that you were a Bulls fan not too long ago but we Knick fans love and respect Donnie Walsh for what he did here. No GM's record is spotless but his positives far outweighed the negatives.
you will learn to appreciate the man when we're back to having Isiah and/or his cronies run the show. These guys will never be more than puppet General Managers under this owner. If you're happy with that than there is nothing else I can say.
Do you know this for a fact this will happen so be quiet until the dust settles. There are capable professionals out there once again FACT not OPINION. He wasn't going to stick around forever and therefore we were looking at replacing him sooner than later anyway FACT not OPINION. He wanted to hire Mullin a GM some Knick fans didn't respect FACT not OPINION.

What did I say that was out of line with reality and pure pollyanna? Donnie added 2 stars and the core of the team is those 2 guys. You start every good team with your top talent and the rest of the guys are role players. We'll be good because we've got 2 top tier players at the core of the team. To the extent that we can continue to add to that core, the team will get that much better.
We had a winning record despite all the issues trying to develop chemistry with the new guys. Is that not a fact? Given an entire season together it's not unlikely that this team will be better than what we started with last year. They've had the benefit of at least 30+ games together and they'll have more time together this fall to develop more chemistry. What's so pollyanna about what i've been saying? We are in a good position relative to the past 10 years. That's a FACT!!!
Donnie likes the coach. Mike D'Antoni. He put him in a position he couldn't win and felt sorry for the "kid". He wants him to stick around. He thinks Mike can take this team to the next level.
Donnie lost the energy to do the job 100%. Comparable to Jerry Sloan. Comparable to anyone at that age who is as involved in their work. 24/7. Strategizing into the early morning.
Donnie didn't want to take a 1 year deal with the projected lockout thus "fleecing" the knicks organization.
Donnie compares his new roll to Jerry West's.
This news is not shocking and all the reasons make sense. Im still optimistic that current management can turn this team around and that Donnie will still have influence on team decisions.
Go Knicks!

To each his own about the job you think he's done here. I beg to differ. I like the list of names popping up at the moment, hopefully Dolan exercises due diligence and makes this process one of complete thoroughness. Once again he hired Donnie an exec many feel did a great job so why can't Dolan do this again? Donnie wasn't the best exec in the league before we hired him, after we hired him, and after we essentially fired him.

It is highly unlikely for idiot like Dolan to hit jackpot 2 times in a row.
One in 3 times is more likely. Laden, Isiah, Walsh, ..., ...

I can't say I'm glad nor am I upset...I though Donnie was out of bounds asking for autonomy...I thought Donnie was making a power play because he had the fans and the media on his side...I didn't think Donnie did such a great job as others think...I though he could have sat on his hands and be in the same place we are now without Melo and STAT..Donnie hired Mike which I always thought was a bad move...Donnie wanted in install Mullin as GM which I though would have been horrible...Dolan giving into Donnie's wishes would have been a big mistake...He might have re-upped MDA...
Donnie came here with one mandate, to get under the cap and add two free agents, one being LeBron...Donnie and the Knicks apparently made a horrible presentation...Even tho Bron made his plans already...Some are now saying that the Knicks waited too long to make the Melo deal is why we gave up so much..We got nothing in return for Zach and Jamal, nothing, no picks, nothing..Whenever we make a deal, draft picks are in the balance...I really don't see the great things he has done...

How about taking a 23 win team to a .500 record? Or did we just dream that one up?
Donnie made the dysfunctional shyt left by Isiah into a playoff team, if you ever manage to see past the trees there is a real Forrest out there.

The Knicks going from a 30 win team to a 40 win team was Dolan signing the 100 mil check over to Amare...
This is a guy who did nothing with the Raptors. His best move was getting Antonio Davis for Jonathan Bender. He has made shitty draft picks and generally did nothing of note in Toronto, where he was ultimately fired.
Sounds like a Dolan type of guy.
