He's such a funny guy. To bad we couldn't bring him along with STAT. That combo was something else. Man the one thing missing from the D'Antoni offense has been that deadly P&R they had. Only Stockton and Malone did better.
Papabear Says
Yes but none of them won a ring so it's irrelavent.
It's not because of the system, but the personel surrounding the HOF players..
Thats like saying guys like KG and Drexler, were scrubs until they were traded to championship teams..
Nalod@ 10/27/2011 4:43 PM
Shump was just an typo. He is not core.
Rony is our starting center at the moment.
IM sure we'll get someone in that place, but Thats where we at.
Rony is older than his age.
I'd love to have Nash here next year at the right price.
We just don't know if MDA will be here do we?
holfresh@ 10/27/2011 4:57 PM
I would love to have some players who actually play defense...We are still playing in the East...

I'm also not worried about picks we may have given up. We've got enough young talent to fill roles IMO. It's not like we've got any lottery picks in our future to be concerned about. If we can sign one FA C I think this team will be ready for battle.
Iman 21 Jorts? 22 Fields 23 Walker 24 Brown 24 Rautins 24 TD 25 Shawne 25 Jordan? 25 Balkman 27 Melo 27 Stat 28 Ronny 28 CB 35
Rautins becomes a 25 year old sophmore next week. Rautins, Balk, and Jordan (unless a tremendous transformation occured over 12 months) probably have no business being on an nba roster.
Childs2Dudley@ 10/27/2011 6:05 PM
Balkman will almost certainly be amnestied.

I don't see a need for Balkman. I remain unsure about Rautins and Jordan. No way to know just yet if they can be useful role players. I see no reason Jordan can't give minutes off the bench. There are tons of low talent guys with size that play in the league mainly cuz they have size. We'll have to see how he does. Still the point is that this team has a good amount of young players. It's not like we gave up all of our youth in the Melo trade. Gallo is replaced with Melo an upgrade and Chandler would likely have been sacrificed anyway. So it really comes down the Felton and Moz and guys that we lost without a replacement.
Our top young prospects are now TD, Iman, Fields, Shawne and Brown. That's not a bad group of young players.
TD has shown that he has legit talent and if he's allowed to be a scoring guard he can be a very effective player for this team. Love TD's D most of the time, his poor playoff performance not withstanding.
I have very high hopes for Iman and I fully expect Fields to continue to be a solid role player. Shawne W. is a very important rotation player for this team and I think he has a bright future. I like what I saw from Brown in his off season work on his game. His stroke looked MUCH improved. I don't see what there is to complain about with this teams young prospects. It seems a bit rough when some make a big deal about Ronny, when clearly he's a backup that should be playing limited minutes. I don't think there's any way that he is left as our only Center going forward so there's no need to emphasize his importance.

Window is more like 5-6 years depending on the supporting cast. The celtics and mavs should show you that. Melo's game is not as reliant on athletic ability as other scoring wings. He should be a top scorer into his mid-30s. Also, Stat has a great work ethic and will stay in great shape. In addition, he has already began to transform his game in that way that KG has where he relies less on athletic ability and more on skill and IQ. He is already one of the better high-post scorers in the league, something that wasn't there early in his career. These 2 can be the core for a contender for many years as long as they learn to play well together and we put the right talent around them.

Although I personally think Turiaf is in his mid-fifties and is using one of his sister's birth certificates.
I'm sure that's distorted by the Melo trade.

Exactly right. His game is due to decline shortly, but has not yet. As long as minutes are controlled and there are no major injuries, his decline should be slow enough to still have 3-4 years playing at a very high level.

The love affair with TD is over, his sealing is low, he will never be a bonifde PG, he's a suspect back up PG destine for a 6th or 7th man career..combo gaurds should be 6 5" not 6 2"..IMO sprewell is the ideal combo guard..he can handle pg's sg's and sf's effectively, on both ends.
Who can TD guard other then your typical PG, rondo had a field day, he can't guard wade or LB, joe jonson, pierce or ray, even collison lit his ass up. He maybe a slightly above avg 3 pt threat and a adequate defender against guys his size, but i would not resign him at all.
knicks1248@ 10/28/2011 2:13 PM
The thing about NASH is the same you get with Billups..injuries don't heal fast, pain tolerence is very low.
They are very good when healthy, but any slight injury could derail your plans considerably..
jrodmc@ 10/28/2011 3:26 PM
Yeah, and I'm sure Nash'll sign for the league minimum too.
