Knicks · ESPN or other Networks should start showing EuroLeague games (page 1)

or any other games that include NBA players. I think this would generate some interest and fans starving for some NBA action will watch. I know I would be interested in watching some of these games.

I wanted to see Rubio!
arkrud @ 11/16/2011 2:25 PM
Good idea...
Not sure if contracts with NBA are prohibitive to this...
DurzoBlint @ 11/16/2011 2:34 PM
oh, you better believe ESPN will carry them if enough NBA players sign overseas. The demand will be there and they won't turn away from those ratings. If this isn't resolved in time to save the season you will see even some of those who said they would never go start considering it.

Ballers need to ball or their skill will deteriorate so, many will go to Europe for that reason alone. Hell, this lockout if season ending will have ended a few careers. Can anyone see Roger Mason getting a contract next year?

nykshaknbake @ 11/16/2011 2:52 PM
I doubt the demand is there. I for one wouldn't really be able to get into it alot. It's just not the same if it isn't the Knicks. Even if you had the same Knicks team under a different banner I wouldn't be mad the whole next day when they lost or be giddy when they beat a tough opponent. Allright go Real Madrid woohoo! Not happening.

Man, I'll watch the Philippine Basketball Association games if they broadcasted it here.

Not from an NBA team, but he could certainly begin his new career as an actual mason since he has so much experience laying bricks with his "no arc" shooting style.

nykshaknbake @ 11/16/2011 3:24 PM
I may be in the minority but I can't even envision being a big fan of another NBA team let alone a team in a different continent.

You got player-owner Tony Parker and Rony Turiaf balling... I'd tune in if it was on my TV for a quarter at least, but I don't even have ESPN. Well, there's always the Olympics in the summer...

FRA - Parker quickly makes mark with ASVEL
VILLEURBANNE (Eurocup) - Anyone wondering what sort of impact Tony Parker would make on the court for ASVEL Basket during the NBA lockout now has the answer.

Parker was every bit as important to ASVEL, the club he serves as vice president and one that he owns shares in, as he was for France this summer in Lithuania when leading Les Bleus into the EuroBasket Final.

The 29-year-old made the All-Tournament Team in Kaunas as France booked a place at the London Games, and on the very first night of the Eurocup, he played so well that he scooped the Week 1 MVP honor.

The San Antonio Spurs playmaker, after Valencia pulled to within two points in the fourth quarter, hit back-to-back three-balls and finished with 34 points as ASVEL won, 87-78.

Parker finished with a valuation of 40.

He hardly put a foot wrong, making three of his four shots from long range and nine of 10 at the free-throw line.

Competing alongside fellow French national team player Ronny Turiaf, against Valencia's Les Bleus Florent Pietrus and Nando de Colo, Parker was awesome.

He also had five assists and five rebounds.

"We weren't able to stop him," Valencia coach Paco Olmos said.

"And when he wanted to dominate the game, he did."

Olmos added that Parker "is potentially the best player of the tournament right now".

Few would disagree with that assessment after Tuesday's display.

Another player looking to break into next year's Olympic team for France is Edwin Jackson of ASVEL.

The 22-year-old hit three of his five shots from long range and finished with 11 points.

The 1.91m shooting guard has been a standout player in France's youth teams.

It's tough. It's such a different product. I don't know if anyone would watch.

if enough NBA player go overseas ESPN will manufacture the demand if necessary.

They can start with a EuroGame of the week. I can actually see this happening. There is already a channel that caters to euro soccer and I don't see why this can't follow.
Nalod @ 11/17/2011 10:08 AM

I have seen euro games on TV. I think NBATV. Not anytime recently. Off season maybe? I don't recall. They all looked like Rubio and Fernandez. I Think I saw a game with Lampe in it. I like the pace as there is no isolatinon plays. They almost run their points into exaustion and switch them out. They goe balls to the wall and then bring in another.

Its different but I like it. I'd watch it.

Its just we are not familiar with the players and thus it has less interest for us. Plus, so many teams in different leagues. But the EuroLeague games tend to be the better matchups.
