It's good to be back!
I know all the talk about Paul wanting to be a Knick & Howard wanting to be a Laker.
Putting aside all the speculation, the Knicks must do everything in their power to make Dwight Howard their #1 priority before Chris Paul.
With a combo of Carmelo & Dwight, there's no need for a third star.
The Lakers have more attractive pieces with Bynam (although he has a concerning injury history) and Odom, who is very talented but is made for the Lakers system.
What we have besides offering Amare (whom I have the utmost respect for and grateful for making the Knicks relevent again), a huge expiring contract in Billups.
Orlando will use their exception on Gilbert Arenas but will still be stuck with Turkalou's big contract. Turkalou is a guy that would fit into D'antoni's system.
We don't have picks but we have Fields & Shumpert.
We could take on the contracts of Jameer Nelson & Turkalou. Which is all worth it if we're able to team up Carmelo Anthony & Dwight Howard. It could very well be Kobe/Shaq part 2!
Howard doesn't like the cold. He's been pretty vocal that he want's to remain in a warm weather city. I just don't see him wanting to come to NY. I know it sounds like a lame reason not to choose a team, but the guy has the freedom to go wherever he wants and he's said over and over he doesn't like NY.
I think we have to focus on Deron and CP3.

He was talking not only about the weather, but about crazy NY fans, media, expectations, and other non-bbal distructions.
He had a good mentor in Patric to teach him that NY is not a place for heapiness. Dwight want to "Not worry, be heappy".
And he has it all to have this in LA, Florida, or other sunny site.

I think we focus on the PG because that will make us a better team than losing Stat and gaining Howard. Plus, it's very pussy-ish to make a big deal about the climate. NYC isn't exactly Fargo, ND. It rarely gets truly cold in NYC. And it NEVER gets cold in a limo or a Maybach... sheesh.
Espect d'A to feature whoever is trade bait to maximize their value...just as happened in the last couple or 3 years. Best candidates for such a move?
Landry Fields
Toney Douglas
Shawne Williams
Well I guess that's why they call it free agency. Its too bad.
Hopefully the Knicks will find a center who can rebound & block shots.

Nene would be nice but he wants to go to Miami.

Well I moved to the South and i'm just 5hrs from Orlando. It's warm even now and will be in December and January. Once you've lived down here you really do adjust to the climate. It's only snowed 2 or 3 times since i've been here the last 7 yrs and each time it was just a dusting at most about 2 inches and melted very quickly. They closed the schools!
Also the culture is so much slower and friendlier in the deep south. It's really a shock. Even ATL isn't as intense as NY. It's just not for everyone.

Do the Nets have a shot at Dwight? A Nets fan at work insists Dwight is going to play with Deron.
Maybe Deron can form a big 3 with Carmelo & Dwight in NY....how you ask?
Well as I mentioned before, the Knicks have a valuable expiring contract in Billups which can absorb a crappy contact like Turkolou. Orlando will use their amnesty exception on Arenas. If the Knicks can somehow pull off getting Dwight at trade deadline, while absorbing Turkaglu's contract; the Knicks can use their amnesty exception after the season on Turkaglu. They might have enough $ for Deron.
Pg: Deron Williams
Sg:
Sf: Carmelo Anthony
Pf:
C: Dwight Howard
I'll take that 3 over Miami's 3 or any team's 3!

Would be nice but I think we will end up with Amare, Melo and CP3.

That's a crazy 3, but its not happening
We aren't trading for Dwight, and we aren't trading Amar'e for Dwight its not realistic its pretty safe to say that has a 0 % chance of happening. I think Dwight will be a Net. Why? Because they have the best package to offer Orlando in a trade, a package of Brook Lopez, Anthony Morrow and draft picks is as good as any other team could offer. Mikhail Prokhorov is committed to winning once Dwight gets traded to the Nets, with the team moving to NYC, and Deron Williams in place it would be stupid of him not to resign with the Nets.

LA can offer Bynum + Pau or Bynum + Odom. Thats better than the Nets offer & LA is a better brand name. I think he either stays in Orlando or goes to LA.
But the Knicks are the only team with a huge expiring contract in Billups. That could be more valuable than draft picks. Combine that with young promising players (Fields, Douglas, Shumpert) and the starting power forward in the allstar game.
LA is not trading Bynum AND Gasol no way. And Bynum, Odom and no picks is not a better deal than NJ's. Lopez can carry the offensive load for Orlando, Bynum cannot. Bynum is bad offensively, is overpaid and is injury prone. With the Magic trying to rebuild how would Lamar Odom an aging player with a big contract help them? Brook Lopez can take on the scoring load in Orlando he average 20 a game last year, Lopez has also never missed a game. Anthony Morrow is right up there with Stephen Curry as the best young shooter in the game he put up 45-40-90 last year. The Nets also have other guys like Jordan Farmar, Kris Humphries and Damion James to offer as well as draft picks.
Where the Lakers have the edge in the Howard trade talks is that they can take a contract like Arenas or Turkoglu back and trade something like Gasol and Bynum to Orlando. Orlando could then amnesty the second guy and put itself in good position right away. However, paying both Bynum and Gasol and taking back Howard would essentially ruin the Lakers for the next 2-3 years and isn't worth it for them.
The Nets have the edge because they can offer Brook Lopez and a ton of draft picks, and that offer is better than a Gasol/Odom or Bynum/Odom package. The Nets may also bring him in without making him sign an extension, which is a no-brainer for Orlando if they don't think he'll stay.
Right right...arguably the best center in the NBA at 25 years of age and they just calmly trade him away. Dream on.
Somebody will be amnestied from that roster....likely Arenas. Then they would need a backup PG since that leaves them only Duhon.
No way they trade Superman unless they are relatively sure he will not stay.
I officially declare myself the leader of the "Bring Dwight to the Knicks" bandwagon.
To be honest, I don't think Howard has the mental toughness to play in New York. The guy is a bit sensitive and if the Orlando media gets on his nerves, imagine him dealing with the New York Media. He just doesn't seem to have that get off my nutz attitude you need to thrive in NY.
Melo has it as does Stat. I think CP3 has it though I not part of the Dwight vs CP3 crowd. I would be extremely pleased with either but, I doubt Dwight is the right fit.
